Hey guys - this band Five for Fighting has done a really cool thing. Check it out:
Autism Speaks created a music video of the Five for Fighting song, "World", which features images of autistic children and their families. It is a truly moving video and was the work of Bill Shea.
The band is generously donating $0.49 to Autism Speaks for each time the video is viewed - the funding goes toward research studies to help find a cure.
When you have a moment, please visit the link below to watch the video and pass it along to your friends and family. They are aiming for 10,000 hits, but hopefully we can help them to surpass this goal.
Help find a cure! All ya gotta do is click and watch. Again and again !
I personally have very dear friends with an autistic son/nephew and I know a lot of you also have autistic people in your family or know someone who does. It can be really tough, so let's all help out!
God, I was just serious for a second. I need to go snark on Britney now or something.

Thank you for telling us about this. I'll pass the word on via email. If you ever want to read a great book about what it's like to raise special needs kids (be it food allergies or autism or OCD or bipolar disorder, etc), read "The Elephant in the Playroom". Awesome, amazing stories.

Autism can be a part of Fragile X syndrome, too. Let's help get the word out!

I hope John Travolta sees this and finally gets help for his son.

Thanks for doing this. Every penny counts, and there's no way the country is ready to deal with this epidemic...all the money is going to Iraq.
My nine-year old son has autism. He's very bright and talks alot (doesn't always make sense though). I wonder what he thinks when he hears and sees people singing about wishing for a world without autism. Autism is not like cancer, its not fatal and its lifelong. He's got to adjust, unless there's a cure (please let there be a cure). The people behind Autism Speaks are RICH and their grandchild was recently diagnosed. They've done alot in a short time to get public attention.
Please let everyone know about this opportunity to help.

I've been reading your blog for about a year and enjoying myself thoroughly so I was very surprised but very happy to see this post. My nine year old son has autism and I can count on one hand the number of times her has said "Mommy I Love You." Somedays I have to remind myself that I'm one of the lucky ones. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
