Trading in his leather jacket and Santa Suit for a set of hands registered as legal weapons, Tim Allen has signed on to star in the David Mamet martial arts action film, "Redbelt." Starring alongside the comedian is Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Variety offers up a brief plot summary:
Ejiofor, who was the first actor Mamet set (Daily Variety, April 13), stars as a Jiu-jitsu master whose purity is compromised when he is drawn into the movie business and manipulated into brawling in ultimate fighting matches.Allen plays a troubled action star with marital problems who meets the master when he is getting pummeled in a street fight.
I feel like this could either be really quite awesome, or just plain embarrassing to watch. Luckily for me, I would probably enjoy watching the film either way--as long as Tim doesn't still somehow manage to turn into a talking dog. Actually, wait, I take that back because that too sounds incredibly awesome. More talking dogs, I say! God, I'd make a great studio head...
