After a ten-year break, Bristol's finest export is back and ready to astonish. Portishead, leader of the trip-hop sound and purveyor of the greatest baby-makin' music of the 1990's, announced plans for a comeback show. The Portishead website revealed their first show in over a decade will feature a few new tunes.
Portishead are to be the next curators and will be performing exclusively at All Tomorrow's Parties, Nightmare Before Christmas in December 2007.They will be playing their first full live set featuring new material in nearly 10 years at the event which is set for December 7, 8 & 9 at Butlins Holiday Camp at Minehead.
More details on the shows and this week's free MP3 are after the jump.
"We have always loved the All Tomorrow's Parties set up and we're happy our first shows will be there. It's great to have the opportunity to introduce bands we love or have influenced us. We've chosen a diverse collection of artists to play with us and we're really looking forward to it"Details of the line up will be announced here and at the All Tomorrow's Parties site www.atpfestival.com.
Although founding members Geoff Barrow and Beth Gibbons declined to announce a date we should expect a new album, they briefly discussed the work on their Myspace page, stating the new tracks sound "warmer" than expected. I haven't heard the new tracks yet, but I look forward to giving them a listen. Until that day, I wait with baited breath for some more great baby-makin' music.
