"Sopranos" Creator Says Suck It To Fans Upset At Series Ending

Sopranos 061207-1

"Sopranos" creator David Chase is an artist, so don't question his ass. A lotta fans of "The Sopranos" were all tormented by the fact that the show ended totally ambiguously and nothing really happened? Yeah? Well, that's art, bitches! Make of it what you will! I don't actually watch the show that much but I like the fact that this guy doesn't feel the need to cater to people.

"I have no interest in explaining, defending, reinterpreting, or adding to what is there," he says of the final scene.

"No one was trying to be audacious, honest to God," he adds. "We did what we thought we had to do. No one was trying to blow people's minds, or thinking, 'Wow, this'll (tick) them off.' People get the impression that you're trying to (mess) with them and it's not true. You're trying to entertain them."

So there. Chase went on to add that he's not ruling out a movie in the future but don't rely on it. I always had a problem with this show because everyone was evil and anyone not evil was pathetic or soon to be dead and there was no one to root for. But then I realized that I'M evil and I grew to like it. Oh, and Jackie Aprile Jr.? Hot. I miss him.

To paraphrase Paris Hilton - Owen, you're 38. It's not cute anymore.

Oh God, Jackie Jr. was the HOTTEST piece EVER. He's the reason I started watching the show. I should have stopped watching once he was whacked...

Here's the deal: Sunday night David Chase gave us exactly what he's been giving us ALL ALONG! From the scenes with the cat to Meadow parking her car - pure Sopranos through and through. I personally loved it.

(And, let's be honest - HBO execs aren't completely stupid. This has been their biggest cash cow ever. They're not going to let it end without the possibility of squeezing more cash out of it!)

I agree with GirlinLA. If you really watched the Sopranos over the years you would know how it can be a narcissistic experience. You pretty much had to take from it what you could. I liked the ending, too. Not wrapped up in a bow. I think he died in the end. Remember when he said it all goes black when it's over. Think about it.

Oh yeah he's a d-ck.

so, he actually didn't speak "the fans of sopranos can suck it?! What was the point of this topic again? If it wasn't for the fans of sapranos the would have not been an hit on hbo. I don't have a problem with creators defending their work. But being someone in the show business you need to learn to take critics and stfu...
