State of the Blog Address
First of all, I'd like to start off this Letter from the Editor with a video of Bai Ling trying desperately to shake those damn spiders off her arms. They're all over her skin! She's freaking out! Or at least, that's what I hope she's doing.

All rightey, now let's get down to business. So, I was very nonchalantly hanging out in front of my computer, doing some "work" (AKA online shopping) when a friend of mine instant messaged me to ask, "So, I hear your a Paris Hilton expert?" And I laughed and responded, "Well, aren't we all, these days?" And what he was referring to was this ABC News article, in which I was quoted giving out my expert opinion on who could possibly replace Paris Hilton once her candle in the wind is eventually blown out.

"I think that Paris' willingness to be completely exposed was what really made her different," said blogger Lisa Timmons, editor of the Web site A Socialite's Life. "People felt like they were getting a peek at something they weren't supposed to."
I'm starting to get really good at very eloquently saying a whole lotta nothing.

Lisa continues to say a whole lotta nothing after the jump...

And it's just so wonderfully hypocritical of me to be talking about Paris as a parasite, feeding off the fame of being famous, when I make my money feeding off the fame of her and her kind. Although, I think that I like to justify it to myself by saying, "It's not like she's being forced into the spotlight," and the fact that she really, truly has no other aspirations than what she's doing now helps soothe my conscience, which luckily, is pretty easily soothed.

And then last week, I got a chance to see Hilary Duff being genuine and participating in her charity of choice, "Blessings in a Backpack" at a local Los Angeles elementary school. She seemed incredibly sweet and genuine, so she's totally on my safe list at the moment. And the weird thing is, that I actually really enjoyed the event. Usually, I'm dragging my heels, especially if I might possibly have to do interviews or take pictures (you know, anything resembling actual work) but it was pretty fun, I have to admit. I found myself considering a back-up career as a paparazzo--not one who chases after people in their cars, but the ones who show up to red-carpet events, push other photographers a little bit out of the way to get that one brilliant, smiling shot. I think I could do it. I figure as long as I get to wear comfortable shoes, I'm a happy camper.

Oh, bad news. Our credential application for the upcoming BET Awards was denied. I was totally bummed out when I got the news. This is the first red-carpet event that had me all excited about talking to celebs. Diana Ross is getting a lifetime achievement award and you know all the "Dreamgirls" cast is going to be there. Sigh. But I'm still going to work on trying to get into the gift suite at least. Perhaps I can forget my sorrows for a moment with some free stuff. It usually does the trick.

Well, I think I'm done for now. Once again, I'd like to remind you that you can hear me streaming online every Monday at noon PST (10AM Central) on 99.7 KISS FM in Springfield, Illinois as I chat with Jenny Olive. Check it out!

Enjoy the rest of your week!
