Cruise 062507

Germany is way smarter than America. They've banned Tom Cruise from filming his new Hitler assassination flick "Valkyrie" because of his insane religious beliefs. Scientology drains all of my liberal tendencies for some reason and turns me into a complete facist and oppressor. I just picture gay guys making sure other gay guys stay closeted and depressed people discouraged from taking medication which could help them and undiagnosed autistic kids sitting in front of tv's while their families ignore them and it makes it very easy.

The World War II drama focuses on a plan to assassinate Adolph Hitler, but despite the German theme, the crew will not be able to film on German bases. While they have not received official requests on the project, Harald Kammerbauer, a Defense Ministry spokesman told Reuters, Cruise's faith is behind their decision to refuse to allow filming in the locales.

More on Tom's German snub after the jump.

"[Filmmakers] will not be allowed to film at German military sites if Count Stauffenberg is played by Tom Cruise, who has publicly professed to being a member of the Scientology cult," Kammerbauer is quoted as saying.

Germany does not recognize the Church of Scientology as a church. According to Reuters, Berlin believes Scientology "masquerades as a religion to make money."

Hah! Both barrels, right to the head! You know Tom's going to train the alien Death Star on those bitches. It's going to be Alderaan up in there all over again. Yes, I'm a geek but you are too if you get the reference.

AMEN, J!!! J'ai la haine pour la Scientologie. I had to take exception with lovely Lisa Timmons' delight w/the SCIENTOLOGIST Juliette Lewis a few days ago. I'm elated you have no love for them. Wanna make out?

June 25, 2007 5:24 PM

Right on!!

Btw, please go back to the old outlook of this site...I'm getting dizzy...

June 25, 2007 5:24 PM

Ha ha ~ someone finally tells Tom Cruise NO! I love it!!!!!

June 25, 2007 5:35 PM

I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT!!!
I LOVE SEEING TOM CRUISE DENIED BECAUSE OF STUPID
SCIENTOLOGY!!

June 25, 2007 5:41 PM

Now I hope Germny bans "Hairspray" becuase of John Revolta's promoting of Scientology.

June 25, 2007 6:06 PM

With all the crazy people in Hollywood--drugs, promiscuity, flashing, I will never understand why Cruise is so dumped on---he loves his wife, his children and is generous to charity. He has a right to his beliefs--just like the rest of us have a right to our's. It is politically correct for some reason to dislike him...yet who among us would be the first to scream unfair if our religion were denegrated like his.

June 25, 2007 6:24 PM

Since JH mentioned Travola's kid... Did anyone else see him on E News Weekend? He said he wants to try for a boy because they already have a girl. Umm... He already has a boy too. Apparently he not only fails to acknowledge his autism, but his whole existence as well!

June 25, 2007 7:16 PM

I am absolutely shocked that people are happy that someone is forbidden from filming in Germany because of his religion.

The last time they banned a religion they killed 6 million plus people!

They should keep their mouths shut and work on their own mess!!

SCIENTOLOGY IS NOT A RELIGION.
IT IS A CULT.
END OF STORY.

Libbylib, mach dein Mund an, Schlampe.

June 25, 2007 8:29 PM

Sorry, I meant to read you, too, #9 Pink- Germany has anti-cult laws BECAUSE OF the Nazis. Additionally, they also ban Nazism and paraphernalia along with ridiculous, money grubbing cults like Scientology. This, mind you, is coming from a gay Jew, so booty.

Now if only France and Italy will follow suit. I bet once Katie can no longer go shopping with her BFF Skeletal Spice, Tom and/or Katie might find themselves going to a Catholic church toot sweet.

I am a jew too..........
And as a jew i am offended by Germany of all places to ban anyone's religion..
Who gives these killers a right to judge anyone?

Of course i should not really be surprised!

"Now if only France and Italy will follow suit"

History repeating itself!

June 25, 2007 8:44 PM

I totally agree with Pink and Libbylib. To quote Padme in StarWars epidode 3 "so this is how liberty dies ...with thunderous applause". It might just be words from a movie but the sentament is very approprate here. It is sad that Germany has not learned from it's past mistakes to be more tolerent. Whatever you might think about Tom or his religion you must realise that this is how intolerance starts and then spreads quickly. Ban one and then like dominoes all will follow . This is not about if you agree with Tom Cruise and Scientology or if you like them or not. It's about takeing away a persons freedom to believe as they want just because some people don't like or agree with it. Totally on target Libbylib... How would those of you cheering this action feel if it was you or your beliefs being denegrated like this ? How patrotic of you J Harvey to trash America because of it's foundation of tolerance and praiseing Germany because of it's intolerance...SHAME ON YOU !!

If Tom Cruise wants to believe that his God exists in a random comet, and that he must sacrifice his drone wife to the mother ship if E.T. says so, then more power to him. I just vote to take that little baby away from him before they name her Princess of Pluto, and commit mass suicide in an attempt to follow their said comet.

In the meantime, if Germany choses to keep American Scientology cultists out of their own country, they have every right to do so. It's about time someone stood up and refused to have deal with his weirdness.

It is Tom Cruise's right to believe whatever he wants! Who gives anyone the right to decide their religion means they have to give up their child....now that's crazy!

"and commit mass suicide in an attempt to follow their said comet."

You mean genocide? Who would wish mass death on anyone? Even in jest....

"if Germany choses to keep American Scientology cultists out of their own country, they have every right to do so."

They use to say the same thing about the jews!
And still do..

michelle-
you said it best: "so this is how liberty dies ...with thunderous applause"

AMEN!!

Um, Pink honey. I'm Ukranian and a Jew, so trust me. I know when of what I speak. And check your history, France was overtaken. It didn't go along with Germany.

Two. Tom's "religion" is a cult. And it is on that is why they don't welcome him. Because they have an anti cult set of mind. I'm sure as a person he's welcome, it's just what he stands for isn't. Plus him talking about Hitler? I think they'd want someone who would handle the matter with a bit more tact than him. No one wants to see someone hopping up and down on a couch going "I'm in love with Hitler...Er Scientology!"

I am not your honey...and i know my history..
they fell to hitler and that's what i meant..

"Tom's "religion" is a cult."

Tom's religion is HIS religion and HE has the RIGHT TO HAVE IT..

I am amazed that i have to tell jews this which makes me believe that some people on here are not telling the truth who they are!

June 25, 2007 9:46 PM

I know what I meant, and I meant suicide. For those of us who are old enough to remember the year of 1997, 39 cult members committed mass suicide, under the impression that they were going to meet up with a UFO hiding behind a comet.

Furthermore, Tom Cruise's beliefs can be whatever he choses them to be. I never said he didn't have a right to worship ewoks. I simply stated that MY belief is that it's a stupid celeb-based cult, and someone needs to take that baby away from them before they brainwash her into the same state of mind her mother's in.

And on another note....just because someone doesn't agree with you, it doesn't make them any less of a Jew than you are. You're preaching about tolerance, but you sure as hell seem to be living in ignorance.

June 25, 2007 9:48 PM

Pink, Forget it. These people are uneducated and only follow the popular party line that is put out by the media. They can't think for themselves.

libbylib- your right..they are far too gone.

goodnight :)

PINK IS BLAMING AN ENTIRE COUNTRY FOR THE ACTS OF ONE GROUP.... THE NAZIS.

LETS SEE HOW FAST TOM & HIS ATTORNEYS WILL JUMP ON ME & MY CREW WHEN WE START TO MAKE A MOVIE ABOUT THE POSSIBLE ASSASINATION OF L. RON HUBBARD & HIS BAND OF MERRY CULT MEMBERS.

Not even going to reply to Pink because there's really no point. Because then it would turn into a debate (one sided but still a debate) that has nothing to do with Tom. I personally applaud Germany for this. Let Hitler die. They did enough movies about him to last a few dozen generations. Last thing we need is someone who despite his contributions to charity, had made an incredible assclown out of himself and America for tolerating Scientology. Which is shocking to me because US of A is one of the least tolerant countries in the world. So who knows, maybe this is a begining of a trend. Say no to dumb things like Scientology and people like Tom, who just because they are rich become the authority on all things medical. Personally I'd like to see a movie about L.Ron made by the catholics. Oooooo maybe Mel Gibson can make it. Now THAT I'd pay to see.

J.Harvey, you are fantastic and everything you said was spot on! And I'm doing the "wave", like at sports arenas.

Libbylib,
Perhaps if YOU educated yourself about Scientology, you wouldn't defend it as a religion, but recognize it as the cult that it truly is.

June 26, 2007 5:18 AM

I don't understand why everyone is freaking out about Tom Cruise's so called rights in Germany. Germany is a Socialist Republic. There is no separation of church and state. The polizei can beat you if you get out of line and you can't do a thing about it. They censor content and it is illegal to own certain books and movies if you live in the country. WAKE UP PEOPLE. Every nation is NOT like the US.

June 26, 2007 9:42 AM

I agree that everyone has a right to believe what they want. And I have a right to feel what I want to about their beliefs. It's my view that any "pay to play" religion is plain old idiotic. Sounds like the scam of all scams to me. While the catholic church and other churches do strongly recommend a tithe (general percentage of your income that they expect or want you to donate to the church), there is no requirement to pay to be a part of the church. Although they did used to sell tickets to heaven...

June 26, 2007 10:56 AM

My guess is libbylib and pink are both members of the "cult", that's why they're so admantly defending it. REAL religions don't require payment to be a member. How sad to have to pay for your salvation. What God would allow that?

Hey Pink,

keep your mouth shut. Because of people like you, things will always stay the same. You don't know obviously nothing about Germans and Germany, you are the racist here.

..."libbylib" speaking of those of us who are against "scientology" as being uneducated, is LAUGHABLE.

Do you know anything about scientology libbylib/pink?

Anything at all? The lengths they go to, to silence critics? The foundation of their "religion"?

Congratulations to Germany for its brave decision to prevent an ego crazed cult member from infecting their country.

Equality of religion is vital; however, a manmade scheme to bilk people out of their money, based on the belief that alien ghosts exist, and the brainwashing that goes on immediately disqualifies this crap as a "religion." You can believe what you want, there's a trojan horse in the form of "tom cruise" and others like him.

religion or no religion i don't effing care but everyime this man is humiliated and belitted i'm the happiest bitch on earth because for a man like him whose father ran away from his crazy mum and wasn't there to raise him all he had was his hard working mother to take care of him yet he was an ingrate saying those things about women and psychatry, surely his mother must have being depressed at some point having to take care of kids all by herself with no support.N'wayz as for pink and others supporting him i'm sure u're part of his camp placed on every site to defend and say nice things about them, that's the only explanation for ur aggressive and blind arguments.
