Joshua Jackson, Ryan Reynolds, Zach Braff and Jason Lee have all been mentioned as possible contenders for the latest "Fletch" movie. But now, it sounds like John Krasinski of "The Office" is the most recent candidate up for the role and has already read the script and spoken with MTV about the possibly of him taking part int the project, entitled "Fletch Won."
"My name was tossed around a little bit for the role, and it's something that [I might consider]. I have no idea [if they'll cast me. I've been shooting a movie down in North Carolina, so I've kind of lost touch with who [else] is in the running."The role that was made famous by Chevy Chase is still up for grabs officially, but it sounds like John has a good chance of getting it. And since he can do no wrong in my eyes, I'm going to say that I'm 100% behind his decision. Whatever you choose, John. I'll stand by you. This isn't getting creepy, is it?
More photos of John Krasinski are after the jump.

PLEASE for the love of Mike, not Zach Braff. In fact, maybe if we all close our eyes and wish hard enough, that fucking loser will just cease to exist.
Rachel says:
I'm with you, Lisa, John can do no wrong! (even if his new movie does look horrible)
Rack says:
I'm also with you Lisa, whatever movie role he's in I'm there! No you are def. not creepy :-)

When I was little I thought Chevy Chase was the cat's pj's... it's gonna be tough to fill his shoes. I LOVED him. Still do...
And while I think John Krasinski is absolutely adorable, Ryan Reynolds has always reminded me a little of Chevy Chase. I don't know if he tried to imitate him in his acting or if Chevy was some kind of influence, but it's definitely there.
So, for Fletch, I can totally see Ryan Reynolds playing that part.
John seems a little too nice guy when Fletch needs to be more wise-ass.
Yummsh
Excellent choice. Anyone but that asshat Braff.

I haven't been a fan of a Fletch casting choice since Ryan Reynolds. And if it won't be RR, I'm totally behind Krasinski. He would be a great Fletch!
Elle says:
It was his innate 'Chevyness' that initially attracted me to Reynolds on "Two Guys, A Girl, and A Pizza Place", but this very same trait should exempts him from being cast as the "New Fletch". With Reynolds as Fletch, the movie will be a nostalgic tribute to one of our favorite comedians. No matter how talented Mr. Reynolds is, I would be thinking about Chevy Chase.
Krasinski is defitely the best choice to play Fletch. Where Reynolds would evoke a former actors' interpretation, Krasinski as Fletch could add new dimensions to the character and make the role his own.
