Seriously? Seriously? The public is going to cowtow to a staple of obsessive geeks? The next thing we need will be a release of a Star Trek movie that boasts of incredible action sequences and stars Angelina Jolie and Kevin Spacey and then we'd be gloricying the ultimate iconic geek staple. Never thought I'd see the day when Transformers were cool and otherwise trendy people were emphasizing the glory of watching the movie.
*Spits out the little bit of food that just regurgitated inside her mouth and tries to chew a stick of gum to vanquish the taste in her mouth*

Whether it was originally a programme liked by geeks or not is irrelevant. if people today can't enjoy a mindless action film about killer robots attacking earth because the original origins of it were seen by the "trendy" people at the time as uncool then the people today have serious issues they need to sort out. considering how much crap comes out in the cinema these days a film that recieves deserved praise for being entertaining has the right to be glorified, especially considering how much badly made and poorly acted films come out and recieve much too much praise.
that said, the whole idea of trendy people is basically breeding a society of shallow sheep, and in my opinion alot of the "geeks" your mocking have more integrity then alot of "trendy" people i see in general day to day life/tv/films.
amber, get a shrink, you have issues.
