Watching his father battle a drug addiction taught Shia LaBeouf about the dangers of substance abuse at a young age. The young actor feels that those lessons learned during his childhood have helped him to better prioritize his personal life and career.

I know how hard it was to get my life to where it is. There's so much riding that those small little joys of the high are not interesting to me."
