The channel that describes itself as "TV for Movie People" has long since been a reliable source of classic film entertainment, AMC is definitely one of the reasons this film nerd knows that she will one day have to break down and eventually go back to cable. And now, AMC has teamed up with "The Sopranos" executive producer, Matthew Weiner, creating "Mad Men," a new original series set to premiere July 19th and to run on Thursdays at 10PM/9c.
Set in 1960 New York, Mad Men pulls the viewer into an unexpected new world - the high-powered and glamorous "Golden Age" of advertising - where everyone is selling something and nothing is ever what you expect it to be.A sucker for sexy plumes of cigar smoke, and the aesthetic of an era in which women wore complicated hairstyles that required "setting" and men wore suits on the regular, I'm already drawn in by the look of the show. And I'm about to do my best LeVar Burton impersonation and tell you not to take my word for it, but to check out the trailer above.
