State of the Blog Address
Hello, blog-reading citizens of the nation of ASL!
We recently celebrated the anniversary of the United States of America, and I too celebrated an anniversary of my own. Namely, I have now been writing for this here ol' blog for a year now. I can barely believe it, although quite frankly, it feels like so much has happened since I've started, that I thought it had been much longer than that.
To mark the occasion, I'd like to be sappy for a moment and take this opportunity to let all of you guys who read and post happy comments and send appreciative emails that every single one of them has made me smile. I'm not a filthy rich, celebrity-f*cking, newshound doing this because I'm driven by a desire to be photographed with the famous for being famous and free stuff--well, a tiny part of me is, except for the filthy rich part--but at the end of the day, I'm really just a hired gun who wakes up every morning and writes the stories she's assigned and tries to interject some humor into each post, even though I feel sometimes like I've run out of Paris Hilton jokes and that everyone can tell. So, I guess what I'm trying to say in a very round about way is that churning out good stuff every day is pretty much near impossible, so I'm thankful for the patience and appreciation of those of you who happen to think that I've landed a good punchline here and there. You guys rock.
More from your esteemed editor after the jump...
Additionally, I'd like to thank you guys for humoring me this week, since I know it's not been the same with J. Harvey gone on vacation. I'm not alone, with the other ASL contributors helping me out tremendously, but we all know there's something missing when J.'s not around. Everybody's got their favorite, I know, but I like to think that the two of us together make a pretty decent team and I'm like one half of an ice-skating duo standing all alone under the spotlight, a thin layer of spandex and sequins the only thing keeping me warm as I try my darndest to skate alone. So alone. As you can tell, even though I do miss J., I do relish the opportunity to be a drama queen while he's gone, pining away for him while he's gone.
Oh yes, and here's an actual serious matter of business. I've been receiving emails here and there about our comments policy. I think we may have posted something to alert people to the fact that we are no longer going to be moderating comments. At first, we thought it might be a good way to try and avoid spam and keep threads from getting too nasty, but then we realized that policing you guys was a pretty daunting and Sisyphean task that was WAY too much work. Here's the deal, if someone's being hateful or mean in a way that you find personally offensive, ignoring them is probably your best bet. And as passionately as that person is "attacking" you in the comments, I highly doubt that they're camping outside your apartment in Boise, Idaho, planning something sinister. I have faith in the power of sloth.
Finally, we've changed our podcasting provider (I think that's what it's called) and so if you notice anything funky with Liquid Lunch Podcast, please let us know and we'll try to adjust so that it's the best that it can be!
Also, I'm now trying to do a bit of non-celebrity-gossip writing on the side, just for fun. So, if you're ever down for reading other stuff of mine, you can check me out here on thisisby.us.
So, this was a bit of a long letter, but I finally had a little something to say this time. I hope you guys enjoy what we're serving and keep coming back for more. Feel free to email me tips, concerns and what-have-you's at lisa@socialitelife.celebuzz.com.
Always and forever,
Lisa T.

Anyone who correctly uses the term "Sisyphean" would have gained my reading loyalty, but you had it long ago. I know I'm just a disembodied voice coming through as a comment, but enjoying this site is the highlight of my morning: I come into my office, sit at my desk, and read ASL before I even check my email. The clients can wait!
I'm looking forward to reading your other work. Good job, and congratulations on your year!

Congrats on your year, thank you for your work, I love your site and the way that you put the stories out. As a blogger myself, I know that it is hard to write as much as you do, the podcasts are great as well. You are one of the people that inspire me to be a better writer. Thanks. Good luck on your next year.
