State of the Blog Address
So guys, I'm actually off for a trip to Texas this afternoon. I'm going to be speaking at a speaker series for the Central Texas Advertising League about blogging and advertising. How did I stumble upon such a fun and random speaking engagement? Well, my former roommate and high school buddy just happens to be acting secretary and we thought it would be a clever way to get me out to Texas for a visit. Unfortunately, he's just informed me that his two rescued kittens seem to have given both his puppy, himself and a bunch of friends ringworm. So yes, despite the fact that I am facing Threat Level Ringworm on my trip to Texas, I am not daunted. Such is the dedication exhibited by a professional gossip blogger.

My experience in Texas has heretofore been limited to flying over it, or driving through it, so I'm excited to actually explore. All I can remember about my drive through Texas, on my move across the country to Los Angeles was how relieved I was when we finally made it through. Everything really is bigger in Texas. My shoes didn't even fit because even though my feet managed to get bigger, my shoes didn't. (I'm totally making that up. Do you love how this letter is totally turning into a Roald Dahl story?)
Anywho, so I'm off to brave the jungles of Texas, having had been instructed by my boyfriend not to return infected with ringworm and planning on returning with a bunch of "A Socialite's Life" cocktail napkins that were specifically designed for my speaking engagement. This is the first time that I'm going to be acting like a grown-up/professional in front of a live audience--usually, I just pretend on the phone with reporters in interviews, but this time, I have to fool an entire group of people into thinking that I actually know what the hell I'm doing--much like Janice Dickinson does in my all-time favorite clip from her reality show, "Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency."
