Giant dog murdering asshole NFL player Michael Vick has pled guilty to several of the charges involved in his dog-fighting massacre scandal. The only justice here would be if the dogs that kill people over at Ving Rhames' house form a swat team to attack his ass.
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick has agreed to plead guilty in a U.S. dog-fighting case that could wreck the star's football career, his attorney told Reuters on Monday. Attorney Thomas Shuttleworth said Vick has reached a deal with prosecutors and will plead guilty in the case that has attracted worldwide attention.Other reports have stated that his co-defendants struck deals and screwed him over. A source close to the case says it's likely that he'll receive a prison sentence. Good. That's karma in the form of a dog biting you in the nuts, Pinhead. That place was Jonestown for pooches! Nothing worse than a dumb, cruel person with money. Ugh.

T-Bone says:
This is great news, because if he had gone to trial, he could have gotten off (with all of his fancy lawyers, mega-bucks, "favorite son" status in Virginia, and questionable prosecution witnesses). This is the best way. It ensures us that he's going to pay in some way. Let's hope it's at least a year in the big house and a big old end to that lucrative NFL contract and associated sponsorships. BYE BYE MICHAEL VICK!
essie says:
It's a real shame!! Michael Vick had everything: young, rich, handsome and a career where he was making millions. But this turd could not resist the urge to be cruel to an innocent animal. Jail is way too good for him.
The one laugh I got out of this was watching his "friends" turn on his sorry ass to save theirs!!! Now Vick will get more time in jail then any of them. Now THAT'S funny!!!
skinny fat says:
My hatred of this dog murdering barbaric ignorant piece of shit knows no bounds. Throw his sorry ass in jail and ban him forever from the NFL. Michael Vick is only "taking full responsibility" because he doesn't want to face RICO charges. He's just trying to save his murdering ass.
kt says:
Why are people so mean in life?
How could you kill anything?
finnsmom says:
so happy. this is what happens when you kill innocent animals, asshole. i hope he is never allowed to play football again. i wonder if people in jail will inflict their own justice on him. let's hope so. now if we could just punish everyone else that participates in dogfighting/abuse like this...wishful thinking...
green cardigan says:
We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, humanity will not find peace.

He's not going to go to a maximum security prison, but I do hope where ever he lands, there is a shiv with his name on it.
I hope he loses everything, he deserves no less.
I Hate This Guy says:
I can't believe what an asshole this guy is. The only good news is that this plea is only for the federal charges, he still has state charges pending. I really can't believe that this guy has millions and millions of dollars and this is the best thing he can come up of doing with it? He doesn't deserve it.
T-Bone says:
Oh he isn't alone... Check this out:
As these recent examples show, the high incidence of animal abuse cases in the NFL indicates a disturbing trend that needs to be addressed immediately:
Earlier this year, Vick's teammate Jonathan Babineaux was accused of inflicting blunt force trauma on his girlfriend's dog, Kilo, following an argument. Kilo died after reaching the emergency vet clinic.
In 2004, NFL running back LeShon Johnson was found guilty for his involvement in a massive dogfighting ring.
In 2001, former Eagles running back Thomas Hamner was twice convicted of beating his dog and has been convicted of animal cruelty.
Furthermore, an informant from inside the dogfighting world who spoke on ESPN's Outside the Lines told reporters about "a whole roster of names of professional athletes that we know are involved in dogfighting... I bet not even 10 percent have come to light." Given these disturbing allegations and the numerous recent cases of animal abuse involving NFL players, the NFL needs to act vigorously and with authority to stamp this out immediately. Please use the form below to ask the NFL to take cases of animal abuse seriously in the future by updating its personal conduct policy".

Clarisse says:
Nah nah nah nah...hey hey hey...GOODBYE!
Him pleading guilty is the best we could hope for. T-bone is absolutely correct that if this went to trial, even with his three "pals" to testify against him, he would have probably gotten off. Sadly, justice has a price tag on it in the US.
Don't know that he will get any real jail time, but hopefully this marks him as a big enough liability that no NFL team wants to touch him. Especially as he is (was haaaa!) a QB. The quarter-back is the face of your team. What team is going to have a convicted animal abuser/murderer as their "spokesmodel"? Not based on morality mind you, not in professional sports, but based on how much money someone like that make your franchise?
Hopefully with the conviction and with most of his endorsements being dropped, he lands and stays on skid row and never makes JackSh1t again.

J. Harvey, you are the master! Vick needs the longest jail sentence and the most expensive fine.
stolidog says:
Let's just hope that he learned something from all those dog fights....like Doggy Style! He's gonna need that in prison.
JolieHater says:
For those of you saying this guy's career is over - don't speak so soon! I just read on another site (can't remember which one) that his bosses say he is DEFINATELY coming back.
This link allows you to send a complaint to Vick's bosses.
https://community.hsus.org/campaign/US_2007_dogfighting_nfl2
It is a form letter but please add one or two lines of your own. The more individual, personal messages they get the better. I wrote that it was so wrong for them to say he is coming back before they even know the outcome of any case and they should put it to the public, to see if we actualy want him back.
PLEASE SPEAK OUT, END VICK'S CAREER. INSIDERS IN THE WORLD OF DOGFIGHTING SAY MORE THAN 90% OF THESE GUYS REMAIN UNCAUGHT. SCARE THEM INTO STOPPING.

I HATE people who use animals for gain and "amusement"!!!!!! Why are stars these days SO ugly on the inside?
With fame comes money, with money comes greed, with greed comes bordom, with bordom one becomes interested in proving their dominance on humans and animals. 120 Days of Sadom - people w/wealth and status can do the most dispicable things!

Mike wil never do more than a year in Jail... Everyone here is jealous cuzn he is rich, I know you are jealous cuz you haven't said anything about the other 3 who actually did the dog killing while Mike on the road playin ball 9 months out of the year
What Ihatedogs says:
You're disgusting, dude. You've got the devil in you too. Better start praying... Vick is going down!
I Hate Dogs/Dogs should Die says:
Your'e disgusting! The Rich don't go down, Ask OJ.. Besides ALL Dogs Go to Heaven..so get over it..Why haven't you said anything about the other 3 men involved.. Jealous cuz Mike can get your woman or in your case, your man....
Lapin Perdu says:
Ha! This post is why I love celebrity blogs, and I love you, J Harvey. I laughed out loud when I read this post, and will never stop using the term "Giant dog murdering asshole."
What Ihatedogs says:
What does it prove if a bunch of thugs go to jail for animal abuse or murdering animals? Not much. But if someone like Michael Vick goes down, it says a WHOLE LOT! LET IT BE A WARNING TO ALL!!!!
Peach says:
There should be no plea bargain - he should serve the maximum allowed for the heinous crimes he committed.
What would be even better - if he could be punished the same way he punished the dogs who couldn't perform. Hanging or drowning - SLOWLY....
I Hate Dogs/Dogs should Die says:
Peach your words tell me you are just like Vick! Vicious and cruel...
Ruby Jackson says:
Remember, MV ran a gambling RING... supply and demand. He plead guilty to CONSPIRACY charges, NOT animal ABUSE charges. Which means, there are a LOT of sick mother-frackers who enjoy this kind of crap.
I wish all of his patrons could suffer through jail, too.
Zekers says:
It's unusual that posters agree so universally (I Hate Dogs/Dogs should Die notwithstanding) on this site. I'll talk about the 3 "buddies" that turned on Vick, if just to say; they did the right thing in the end but, they should suffer harsh consequences for being involved in the first place. Vick made the whole situation possible-I highly doubt that his "buddies" had the means to set up such an elaborate operation.
I find it surprising that the NFL would consider letting Vick back in since last time I checked, it is ILLEGAL for players to gamble and that is precisely what he was doing. How are they going to spin that??? Vick abused the gift he was given, now it should be passed on to someone who deserves it.
...J. Harvey you're my hero! :)
sandy says:
JHarv is right. Scum who abuse animals should pay. I say do to them what they did to the innocent animals. Vick is a disgusting moron. And what's up with all these brothers torturing dogs? Is it the only way they can feel superior??

***Zekers,
"I find it surprising that the NFL would consider letting Vick back in"
...Unfortunately, it's not nicknamed the "National Felon League" for nothing. It is entirely possible Vick will play again. Then the fans are to blame.
T-Bone says:
Bottom line -- sport's teams cannot survive without fans. If the NFL chooses to let this thug play again (or any player who defiantly breaks "character conduct clauses") then the public should boycott. Hit them in the pocketbook, since that's all they care about anyways.
Professional sports has changed. The good old days of good people like Gayle Sayers, Brian Piccolo, and Joe Joe DiMaggio are over --- unless we all take a stand. And you can take a stand by clicking here and signing either one of these NFL petitions:

Eyes of Green says:
As fanatical a sport as football is, I cannot see the Atlanta fans supporting this a$$hole as a QB ever again, even if by some freak chance he was allowed to play. I heard on the news this morning that the Atlanta fans are sending their Vick jerseys to an animal shelter, to be used for bedding and 'cleaning up' after the animals. Rather appropriate I say.
Zekers says:
Yes Clarisse, I still have days where idealism sneaks into my mind and I think that people will do the right thing...it passes...sad that it must.
T-Bone says:
Eyes of Green -- That's PERFECT! Love it!
Vick and his buds should be forced to do community service in the nations NO KILL animal shelters WHILE serving their jail time. They can spend every single day looking into the eyes of these completely innocent creatures who do nothing but give love and try to please.
Zekers says:
I was thinking the same thing yesterday when I heard he might actually do time for this. He should have to clean kennels, use what's left of his celebrity to do PS ads against animal cruelty and raise funds for them. I would hope he'd be strictly supervised around any animals though...
T-Bone says:
I just read something so upsetting that I could vomit. Apparently, half of the Atlanta Falcon's fans and ticketholders are African American, and since the African American community has mixed feelings about Vick's guilt and sentencing, the Falcons and the NFL might be holding off on punishment, even though the guy pleaded guilty. Of course it's all speculation, but if that's the case.... THAT'S TRUE racism and greed. DISGUSTING!
Zekers says:
T-Bone, if I saw that coming, you must have...I've been expecting this for quite awhile...I've been waiting for Rev. Sharpton to jump in-surprised he hasn't yet!
T-Bone says:
Actually Zekers, Rev. Al has jumped in and said Vick needs to pay the price.
If this had been a white man, I would have said "lock him up, take his money and make him do community service". I wouldn't have seen color. I would have judged based on the points of the case. I find it ridiculous that ANYONE -- black, white or PURPLE, should stand behind this guy. But then again, I thought that with the OJ case as well. I mean seriously! Have enough personal integrity to stand up for what's right and not for what's white OR black!
Zekers says:
I hadn't heard...marginally redeeming, good for him. Don't want to get on my soapbox about the whole "color" issue, I'll just say what most of us already know...until we ALL teach our children (through example as well) that people are people are people, we are going to stay stuck where we are. You're right, this isn't a race issue, it is a being-part-of-the-human-race issue. Vick left the human race when he decided it was okay for him to torture animals. That says nothing about his race and everything about the man.
Eyes of Green says:
T-Bone: that is insanity!!! I'm probably going to piss a lot of people off here, but just because he's a 'brother' does not mean he deserves the support of his African American community. He's a criminal, a sick twisted a$$hole who made money off the pain and suffering of innocents who did not have their own voice to help them. One could draw a similarity to some oppressed races, who were at the mercy of more powerful people, unable to escape because they were allowed no voice. This makes me ill, the entire situation.
T-Bone says:
You gotta love the Minnesota Saints minor league team!
"Dogs around the Twin Cities will soon have a Michael Vick pig to chew on.
The St. Paul Saints minor league baseball team plans to hand out the chew toy to the first 1,500 fans at its home game tonight. It's the team mascot, a pig, in the Atlanta Falcons team colors and with Vick's name and number on it.
Saints promotion director Jack Weatherman says the team wanted to take a stand on the dogfighting charges against Vick. Weatherman says the public reaction has been totally one-sided, with many fans asking if they can buy the Vick chew toy -- and with absolutely no negative reaction.
Weatherman says the Atlanta Falcons have not contacted him, either".

2 Old 4 This says:
I only hope that the NFL is holding off on punishing Vick until after he has served his criminal punishment.
Why suspend a guy for a year if that suspension is served concurrently with his jail time? Wait until he's released then, mete out his NFL justice.
That's what I hope will happen.
Sadly, what I suspect will happen, is that the NFL will hold off his punishment in the hopes that once Vick gets out of prison, the media & fans will have softened to the "old news".
Then they can continue to cash in on his celebrity - and I say celebrity cuz he's an OK quarterback - there are better athletes in the league. Vick's appeal to the NFL brass was his marketability.
Ka-ching $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Zekers says:
I've seen a couple of promotions similar to this in my state too T-Bone, very cool!
I was reading emails @ CNN.com regarding Vick...there were very few folks that felt he should be allowed to play in the NFL again. But, someone actually (tried) to draw an analogy between Vick's crimes and another NFL player that was arrested for smoking pot and still allowed to play...because the crimes compare so closely right? GAAAH!
Off to meetings....double GAAAH!
T-Bone says:
Once Vick does his time, he should struggle to make ends meet like every other murderer that walks out of prison! EVERYONE from drug dealers to rapists have to do the time, and then they often struggle to get back on their feet and make an honest living. WHY THE HELL should Michael Vick be any different??? Because he catches a stupid leather ball??? I think not!

P.S. That post cracked me up for real J.! You should know Ving's dogs didn't actually kill that dude though. - They just dragged his body out into the front yard. (The severest bite marks were almost all on his forearms and lower legs.)

comment says:
The African American population does not embrace animals and pets like whites do. I'm not saying that to encourage anger, it's just a culural fact. Their struggles are totally different from what whites face, so their outlook is different. Many are trying to get through life themselves, so they don't overwhelmingly get involved in animal welfare and causes. Because of the higher rates of poverty in the African American community, many don't have the money or desire to bring pets into their lives.
Most of the African American people I have met who were raised in the south tell me they don't like animals. They believe animals should never be allowed indoors etc. The would never let a dog or cat on their bed - let alone in it. They have deeply ingrained beliefs that they were brought up to believe. Those who do love animals usually have more education and wealth. Also, the younger generations are quickly becoming more animal friendly because of exposure to other cultures and shows like Animal Planet. They are also observing many celebrities who have deep love for their pets.

I wrote this
NAACP -- if I murdered, tortured, and abused animals the way he did, and involved myself in ILLEGAL gambling, and ended up in jail, would you contact MY EMPLOYER to tell them to forgive me and hire me back??????????? I DON'T THINK SO!
So the fact that you're doing this for a professional athlete means that either you can be bought and sold or your entire organization is racist!
SHAME ON YOU!
comment says:
Oh, I don't excuse the behavior. I'm an animal lover myself and when I heard this news, I was appalled and ashamed. Michael Vick had so much going for him. He had adoring fans, plenty of money and talent, yet he still made bad choices.
You can't excuse it, but I think that we have to be aware that for some people, those dogs "are just animals." They don't have the emotional attachments to pets like many of us do. A dog is property or something to guard your house and keep burglars away.
Because of this, I would encourage everyone here to get involved in some way, even a small way. Support animal rights groups and the like because that is how we can change such mindsets. These groups give animals their voice and fight hard to protect them from abuse.
