One of the world's most beautiful psychopaths is speaking out about how the modeling industry has an issue with putting black models on magazine covers. Well yeah, society is dumb and racist and thinks only white chicks look good. For instance, I want to bang Anthony Anderson but does anyone else see the beauty in his tubby blackness? No, probably not. Racist jerks.
"Black models are being sidelined by the major modelling agencies," she told local journalists at a press conference in the beach resort of Malindi, Kenya, where she is on holiday."It is a pity that people don't appreciate black beauty".
She added: "I even get a raw deal from my own country. For example, I hardly come on the front pages of London's Vogue magazine.
She probably has a point. But it also could be that people are scared of her because she's violent and irrational. What if she can't find the jeans she wore to the shoot? Someone gets an iPhone to the mouth. Racism exists. But so does unmedicated impulse control issues with violent tendencies.

I hear you girlfriend. I wouldn't want to come on the front pages either. Talk about embarrassing! Seriously though, maybe she should consider the face that she's difficult, arrogant and angry. Who needs the aggro? Not to mention the fact that she's 37. The age thing is unfortunate, but in that industry it's a fact of life.
Darth Paul says:
British media are even more racist in many regards than their US counterparts, and not necessarily only towards black people. But per her personal complaint, n is right about Naomi being 37 and "past it" as far as the fashion industry goes.
nastybugger says:
n, I would say the same thing.
while I agree that non-white models are under-represented in the modeling world, I think her problem isn't so much her age or race, but her violent tendencies.
stevenjaba says:
Harumph. How does she explain Tyra Banks, who was Victoria Secret's lead model for years?
How does she explain all the covers Halle Berry gets? Or Beyonce, for goodness sakes? Rhianna?
devil says:
God forbid Naomi take responsibility for her problems. No, it's the big, bad, racist media. Or a right-wing conspiracy. Whatever.
Why hire a crazy old model when there are thousands of sane young ones?
nastybugger says:
to be fair, stevenjaba, tyra is but ONE example of a minority amongst tons of white models. I don't recall any other black models in their catalog...
also, those other women you mentioned?...NOT models. you have an actress, and two "singers".
Lola says:
""It is a pity that people don't appreciate black beauty".
HA!! Eric Clapton did, he banged her!
Leslie says:
Public perceptions of beauty often skew towards typically White features. Of the Black models/celebrities who've received the beauty stamp of approval from the masses, most of them are relatively light-skinned, and exhibit hair, facial features, and bone structures that are more reminiscent of Gywneth Paltrow than Alek Wek.
So, she does make a good point, BUT...
...speaking of Wek, she's on this month's cover of Ebony with Tyra Banks, Kimora Lee Simons, and Iman -- no Naomi. How does she explain being excluded from the cover of a Black-owned & operated publication, too?
silvarga says:
Although Tyra pretends that they've kissed and made up, I'm sure she and Naomi still can't be on the same set together.
Out of all the women on the Ebony cover Naomi probably is/was the biggest tyrant. However, except for Alek Wek, ALL of them were total bitches during their prime. Iman admits openly that she was an egomaniac in the 80's. All of them attribute this largely to being minorities in the modeling field.
Beverly Johnson wasn't on the cover either though, and despite what Tyra says, Beverly was the real pioneer for black models.
Overall, It's a little late for Naomi to be taking up this particular cause and frankly, she's putting herself at a disadvantage with those very magazines, what with her being 37 and no longer a hot commodity. Especially compared to Tyra, who aims to be the next Oprah.
And lastly, why didn't she make this about underrepresentation of ALL minorities? What with her supposedly being half Chinese and all...
green cardigan says:
Racist magazines and cell phone beatings aside, Naomi looks amazing for 37. She looks as good now as she did 15 years ago.
stevenjaba says:
nastybugger:
Although I see your point, I have gotten the catalog for many years, and there regularly other black models. Granted, none as high-profile as Tyra, but on the other hand, Tyra's reign at VS was longer than anyone else's - except perhaps Giselle.
Also, there has been a steady shift in recent years to using actresses and singers for covers instead of models. How often do you see an unknown model featured on the cover of any major publication anymore, regardless of skin color?
newfgirl says:
She does look amazing for 37, although I would too if I was air-brushed to within half an inch of my life.
Sarah says:
Has she ever thought its because she is to old to grace magazine covers! By alot of model agency standards now she is way over the age limit! She's had her time as a top model get over it and let the new young up and coming models have a chance and stop been such a whiny old bitch and dry yours eyes!
alli says:
I agree that in her case she doesn't get many mag covers because of her personality, i think she does have a point. Before Jennifer Hudson graced the cover of Vogue (american edition) this year, the last black female to grace its cover was Halle Berry in 2002. There are enough black models/entertainers that it shouldn't have had to take 5 years for another appearance.
Jane says:
If "people don't appreciate black beauty" (assuming it's true) that NOT racism, that's taste. And, people are allowed to their own tastes -- you can't argue with taste.
Beauty isn't an equal opportunity employer. People also don't appreciate 300lb. people either. I don't hear Naomi worrying too hard about the opportunities of those kinds of model.
Racism, in this case, would be if people DID appreciate black beauty, but black models were denied jobs by the 'powers that be' simple because they are black. Such discrimination would be excluding qualified applicants based solely on race. However, if people genuinely don't find blacks beautiful, then they are not really a qualified applicant in the first place and the discrimination is perfectly valid (as it would be against any model with a set of features not considered attractive.)
If you want to claim that some sort of affirmative action should take place in the placement of model to force people to "appreciate" black beauty, how can you ever draw a line where that sort of sentiment logically ends?
Tom Sederburg says:
Yeah racism... or it *might* just be because she's FUCKING UGLY!
Jeez.. I can think of at least ten black chicks who are HELLA hotter than that fat ass gorgon off the top of my head.
Petulant bathetic skank... I can't stand her stupid ego.
Later,
Tom

Tom Sederburg: But, how do you REALLY feel about Naomi? Please, don't be afraid to tell us, don't be afraid to mince words.
Zekers says:
"Tom Sederburg: But, how do you REALLY feel about Naomi..."
ZeldaF-way to hit that nail! Thanks for the giggle!
iren33 says:
It's because she's getting old but more and more troubled.No-one want to see an old woman behave ill like a teenage girl!Ewww...I am sure she knows it but still try to play for the old known card "racizm"!
the modeling industry is going down says:
Naomi Campbell has never been beautiful. She's not a natural beauty by any means. She has to wear heavy makeup, eyebrows and eyelashes with lots of mascara to model. Her features aren't great. However, her body is superb. It's a sight to behold and she moves better than anybody else on the runway. But it's about time for Naomi to move on to another career. She doesn't want to face the facts, though her body still looks great at age 37.
I am disappointed by most of the black models that are being given modeling contracts. I think that there are many gorgeous black women of different shades. Ever since that African model, Alex, came along, agencies are hiring copies of her or very dark-skinned women who aren't even pretty. Most of them are ugly and look like they came from the "bush." I think our racist society likes to exhibit the unattractiveness of other people. When they are choosing white models for their covers, they make sure their girls are pretty.
I doesn't matter the color of one's skin. If agencies are choosing black, white, african, hispanic, asian, indian etc girls to model, they should all have beautiful faces and nice bodies. Period.
TN says:
Forget 37, she looks beautiful by any standard. My only regret about her looks is the nose job. Look at her early pictures and now. She got a bit a Janet "pinch" job. You know, I wish I was white work.
Eitherway, she's got a point. Black models once made up 20 percent of the top agencies top girls in the late 70's early 80's. Now they about 3 percent. Virtually invisible.
The new obsession with designers and agencies are stick like Russian girls. The black girls they do get look like concentration camp victims. Chanel Iman has skinnier legs than my wrists.
At least Naomi doesn't succumb to the skinny bitch look. She looks fit like an athlete. Healthy is sexy. Unfortunately, that's not in right now - so she isn't.
Fashion is run by gay white men who wouldn't know sexy if it slapped them in the face.
I long for the days when models where diverse, beautiful and looked like women. Christy, Linda, Naomi, Jasmin, Beverly Peele, all beauties who could do print, catwalk, and still look like women.
