More details are pouring in as to what the hell happened with Brit on Sunday night. It seems like she either had a bad case of nerves or she just didn't care. She was hours late for her rehearsal on Saturday and showed up with a margarita in hand. She also put the kibosh on the elaborate dance routine that had been worked out.
"The dance number was spectacular - without her," said our spy at rehearsal. "When the stand-in was rehearsing with the dancers, in the hours they were all waiting for her, it was amazing. Then Britney showed up and refused to do anything. The dancers were supposed to lift and twirl her in the air a few times, and that just wasn't going to happen. The more complicated dance moves had to be erased because she couldn't do them."Meanwhile, Spears was agitated because she didn't like the outfit MTV had selected for her.
"MTV wanted her to wear a corset outfit. It would have looked great and covered a lot of things up, but she hated it and didn't think it was sexy enough."
Instead, Spears changed into a spangly bra-and-underwear outfit she'd brought with her that emphasized her weight gain over the last year.
Oh good lord, take people's advice. She looked...realistic the other night. Considering her lifestyle, her fupa could have been the one up there performing if she had let it. Keep reading for what one source says was her actual problem.

"She was extremely nervous. It's been awhile since she's done this, and she was performing in front of all her peers, on live TV. She just got out there and froze," says a source who was also backstage as well as at rehearsal. "People who were at rehearsal saw something else. It was good. It really was."
Oh, here's something sad. Imagine you're a dancer and you get this huge break dancing backup for Britney's comeback. The dancers were pretty spot-on, if I remember. Then Daisy Mae shows up with a plastic casino souvenir cup filled with tequila and you know it's over.
MTV execs weren't the only ones worried about Spears' impending debacle. Another spy said, "The dancers were texting pals, asking them to pray for them. They were worried."

It's like the Zapruder film. We have conflicting stories and theories. We'll never know the truth. Does she not care? Is she just spoiled? Self-deluded? Self-desructive? Pissed off? I think the bigger question is why we're all treating this high school variety show entry like it's a message from space we need to decipher.

Ah they're missing half the story here as usual. Britney had a performance down pat and MTV pulled the plug on that performance RIGHT before the show! They wanted her to perform a totally different number with very little time to rehearse. Sabotage! MTV ran a crappy show and everyone was lipping their songs. Sarah Silverman's gig was not funny and a train wreck also. Add on the hype that MTV garnished from saying this is Britney's comeback and it was a total failure on every level. Britney was scared to death to perform under such pressure. I'd like to see you all do the same.

Ok, so who was responsible for producing, directing and choreographing the award show again? Was it MTV or Britney? MTV is 100% to blame for this. Under true "direction" and true "supervision" this show would have been pulled together differently, and Britney wouldn't have been allowed to say what she would or would not do. Can you imagine a Broadway show and an actor saying "sorry, I've decided to wear this and do this". Wouldn't happen. MTV award show totally amateur night in Vegas.

I think more than anything, it's the first item on that list: she doesn't care. A routine like that is hard work, even if you're lip syncing, and she can't be bothered anymore. She needs to care more about her act than about partying every night, and I doubt she ever will again. And her inability to move on from the sex kitten thing shows how immature and limited as an artist she really is.

I didn't notice it during her performance, but if you look at the other dancers, they are all wearing pants & corset tops, and she seems mismatched compared to them, so maybe it is true that she wigged out (haha) at the last minute and decided she was a-wearin' what she wanted to wear- they were probably thinking, shit, we're just glad she "showed up"! It does make things look really bad for MTV, though, you are right! Sloppy!

she, and she alone, is to blame for the fiasco that was her comeback. she wants all the fame/glory without the work. even if her routine was changed last minute, she couldn't even keep up with the lip syncing of HER OWN song. mtv could have 'forced' her to do what they wanted, but she probably would have backed out all-together since she's so uncooperative these days. though, in retrospect, it probably would have been best for them both if she had backed out.

I didn't think she looked fat either, but I didn't think she looked as toned as could be expected- I felt bad for her. I watched with my mouth open, and my mouth fell open again when Sarah Silverman started talking. I wouldn't call myself a huge fan of Britney, but I thought she seemed lifeless and unhappy. It was sad to see.

#1. There are so many rumors going around that we may never know what happened to turn Spears' performance into a humiliating fiasco.
#2. Playing the "blame game"...Her manager, her friends, her family, cousin Ali who is using her to promote her own career, etc. etc. And of course, MTV.
#3. Sarah Silverman's brand of comedy is usually reserved for "Roasts". The one being "roasted" KNOWS that they will be the subject of ridicule. What Silverman did was inappropriate, even though it was true.
#4. Instead of rehearsing for the performance Britney was all over town grinning from ear to ear and carrying a coffee (or whatever)
#5 More upskirt pictures online. In my opinion, the crotch flashing borders on lewd behavior and is a sign that this girl is screaming for help. Her biggest problem is that because she was the breadwinner she could make other people "jump" when she said "jump". Now everyone is "afraid" of getting cut off if they speak out against her.

There's a difference between humorous and mean, and I thought she took it too far. It wasn't creative or witty at all; I expected her to be better, or at least smarter, and she even made comments about Britney's kids. It was so bad.
While Sarah was going on, I think the camera cut to Jennifer Garner, who was making a face that was somewhere between disbelief and disgust. It was after the comment about the kids, I think. Did anybody see that look of death?
