Ryan Gosling's new flick is called "Lars And The Real Girl" and a showing at the Toronto Film Festival garnered some very positive reviews. The gist of the film is that everyone in town likes his character and wants him to be happy. So when he snaps and starts treating his sex doll as real, they try to accompany his delusion. At least it's not a remake of anything. Though I know a few people who might actually have to tried to live that scenario. I'm not naming names. No, it's not me!
At a press conference, the 27-year-old former child actor, whose recent acclaimed films include "The Believer" (2001) and "Half Nelson" (2006), quipped while describing the cast and crew's reverence for Bianca [the doll] during shooting: "Laugh all you want, but I challenge all of you to spend 20 minutes in Bianca's presence and not fall in love."His own bond with the plastic heroine became so strong, he said, that he kept one of the two manequins in the movie, admittedly agitating his girlfriend Rachel McAdams.
Uh, yeah it would. She knows what's going down when she's out on a shoot! You get lonely, Bianca looks sexy sitting there in the corner regarding you with her marble eyes and all hell breaks loose. Anyone would be agitated. She's scared she might come home one day and see you trying to put Bianca through a wall with your thrusting! "What, she can't feel it! What's the problem? It's not like I'm cheating on you!"
