Sheesh, Sean. Have a drink, smoke a joint--or something. Just friggin' relax, dude. At the Los Angeles premiere at the Director's Guild for Penn's film, "Into the Wild," which he wrote and directed, Sean spoke only when spoken to and kept his answers brief and seemed pained to be promoting his film. "Into the Wild" is based on the true story of Chris McCandless, who graduated from college and left a life of comfort behind him to travel aimlessly for two years, before finding his way to the Alaskan wilderness. McCandless' story was told in the book by Jon Krakauer, upon which the screenplay was based.
"This movie is what I've wanted to say for a long time," a soft-spoken Penn told the DGA audience, before thanking Krakauer and the McCandless family, who were in the audience.Which leads me to believe that the film is just a series of shots of Penn telling the media to "Fuck off!" Just kidding! I hear it's actually a really good film. I just think Sean might need a foot massage or something, though, for real--just to loosen up a bit.

Robin looks great, good on her! Sean Penn may be an "ok" actor. But as a person, I can't stand the pompous, self important, socialistic ass.

My guess is that Sean was not talking because he wants this movie to do well and he's afraid that if he had free reign, he'd totally squash any chances this movie had. We all KNOW that when Penn opens his mouth and is allowed to talk, everything is negative and political. Noone wants to hear that crap anymore, not from hollywood types living in their glass houses.

I like Sean Penn. He may be a grumpy old sod but you are always guaranteed a good performance from him when you go to see his films. He doesn't suck up to the press or the media either, and when Hurricane Katrina hit the US I saw photos of him out in that rising water, getting his hands dirty, helping. And you know that with someone like him, his help is from the heart. He couldn't be arsed trying to impress.

I seriously doubt he would throw away all the riches he has for roughing it.

Well, he's entitled to his political opinions and he's entitled to air them if he feels like it, like every other American. Isn't that in your Constitution? Telling someone to 'move out' because they dare to have socialist leanings isn't very democratic or open minded.

Sean Penn is a brilliant actor and a person with a brain and a social conscience. If more people had the fortitude to step up and speak the truth, then America would be the better place that it was before 2000.

Anxious to see this movie. After the story broke, I realized I'd driven on the highway that was just a short distance from where Chris was dying. Even after reading the book, I'm not sure how this happened. There are so many hunters in that area and he wasn't far from the highway at all.

I like him as an actor, but let's face it...he's ALWAYS been a cranky bitch when it comes to the media. remember how he used to punch out photographers?
that being said, it's his prerogative to speak out or not speak out on his political views. If you don't like what he has to say, you don't have to listen to it.

I like Sean Penn....so what if he is cranky! The media usually ask such stupid questions!I read the book and I loved it....can' wait to see the flick.In an age where most celebs care about money and BLING it's good to see someone CARE! I rather Sean Penn to Britney....Paris anyday!
