Even though Britney looks like she's walking around with the grim reaper here, we still have enough class not to try go and put up a jokey little "Death Watch"-type scenario here on the site. However, a radio station in Detroit, Michigan thought that perhaps setting up a little contest that asks its audience to try and guess when the tortured young pop artist might decide to off herself would be a good idea and is now facing the possible backlash. DJ Big Boy from WKQI-FM 95.5 has made public it's "Britney Suicide Watch." According to Access Hollywood:
"If you can guess the exact day that Britney dies, whether it's from drugs or however she dies, if you're right, we'll give you a thousand bucks," the DJ reportedly told his audience. The station's Web site featured a page titled "Britney Death Poll" and stated "Life has been rough recently for Britney Spears. Guess the date she'll commit suicide... if you're right you could win $1000!!!"
According to the station, who then promptly released a statement in reaction to the contest and the uproar it caused, apologizing and and adding that they were "in no way were we making light of death or suicide." Wow. I have to admit that I secretly love when stuff like this happens, because I don't have to do anything and I can look more sophisticated and sympathetic by comparison. Thanks.

Gia Jolie says:
I'm not a big Britney fan right now, but that's just plain evil and stupid.
Logan says:
Why would Brit off herself? She hasn't lost anything that she cares about. Her true family, the family she really loves, is still there, the paps.
tolee says:
britney havent been on my favortie artist list in a while her messy life and mothering proved she needs help but in no way should any of us wish the woman death ... that whole station is just wrong
LRM216 says:
What people will stoop to for the big buck and ratings. How pathetic are they as human beings. So very sad that this is what we allow as a society.

I live in Michigan and used to listen to that station. "Big Boy" was ridiculed on his own station by his fellow DJ's after he put that up on the website. If fact one of the morning DJ's had just announed a few days before this that he would be at a fundraiser to bring more awareness to suicide. He'll get his if he already hasn't!
peachpie says:
and somewhere in the balanced world of karma, a weight with the name "DJ Big Boy" tipped the scales.
poor guy.
Jennifer says:
I think what this station is doing is disgusting. And I disagree, they won't feel like a-holes if she offs herself; they obviously have defective consciences or they would never have done anything like this to begin with. If she offs herself, they'll probably be scrambling to get gory pictures that they can make money off of. They seem like ghouls to me.

Well, I lived in Michigan. Though there are some normal people who populate the state it certainly seems to have more than its fair share of antisocial, psychotic, maladjusted people living there.
