They're not Scientologists. And they must laugh a lot. Jenny's a hot piece. And maybe that's enough to get over whatever Jim's doing with his hair during his I-Haven't-Gotten-An-Oscar-Yet funk of the past decade. Cut that mop. Take Kate Hudson's baby with you! But hey, hooking up with a divorcee with an autistic kid makes you a-ok in my book. Jenny and Jim were recently the star attractions at a UCLA fundraiser for early autism intervention. Jenny McCarthy's son Evan, 5, is autistic.
In his formal remarks at the fundraiser, Dr. David Feinberg, chief executive officer of the UCLA Hospital System, referred to the actress as "my hero" and cited her efforts to raise awareness of the condition. So impressed was Feinberg with McCarthy's efforts, he said, that his son used her as a subject for a school paper on heroes. In researching his essay, the youngster was instructed by his father "to Google" McCarthy, whose resumé includes being a Playboy Playmate.
This got a laugh from the audience and a rise out of Jim Carrey - who leapt to his feet, shot an Ace Ventura glower around the room and then fixed his eyes on Feinberg.
"What's your son doing Googling my girlfriend?" Carrey demanded to know.
It was a family affair, as Jim's daughter Jane, 20, played a set with her band. Jenny says she thinks of Jane as her daughter. Everybody's benefiting from these two!
