Hi guys!
So, as you may have seen, on the site, I had an interview with Kevin Bacon and I was pretty damn nervous, since I actually avoid direct contact with celebrities at all costs. I usually prefer to just take their picture and run, or write about them from the comfort of my own home. However, this time, I was actually excited since Kevin Bacon is an actor who really seems to be grounded and also has been in a lot of film roles that I admire. Because of my nerdy love for good film, I was really happy to get a chance to talk to him one-on-one, as well as with Marcia Gay Harden. Good times.
The weird thing is that while Wayne and I were standing at the red carpet waiting to do interviews, I noticed some tiny bits of white on my shirt and that Wayne also had some of the same on him. Turns out it was some of the ash floating around in the wind, carried from the crazy fires that are burning in and around Los Angeles. Oddly enough, I was staying up in Big Bear Lake this weekend, falling in love with the area, only to return back Sunday afternoon to find out that fires had broken out in Malibu and were being carried in the direction of the place we had left.
More on Lisa's thoughts on the fires after the jump...
I remember Saturday night, looking up at the clear night sky in the mountains, turning to my boyfriend and pointing to the stars and saying, "Look. Celebrities." It seems that even when I'm engulfed in nature, my mind inevitably wanders back to Hollywood goings-on and these fires are no exception. With so many expensive beach homes having had burned to the ground initially, the fires are spreading like...well, wildfire, and I heard on the radio that the initial estimate of the damage is in the billions and growing. And yes, it's a convenient tie-in that there are a lot of stars who have had to evacuate their homes in the blaze, but at the same time, there are entire communities being affected and I guess I don't have a point here, except to say that it sucks for everyone involved.
However, I don't want this post to be a downer! We have to keep our chins up and continue bringing you the silly, goodness for which you have grown to love us and I hope you've noticed our weekend coverage, as well as J. Harvey's new advice column. Please feel free to take full advantage of his expertise and ask away!
For now, here I am, enjoying the pure goodness of Kevin Bacon dancing to "Footloose" on Will & Grace in Italian.
That is all.
Love,
Lisa T.
