I know all the themes have been used, but someone, somewhere has got to have some semblance of an original idea. Please? Anyone? This is foolish. Naomi Watts has signed to star in a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds". Has anyone seen "The Birds"? It's perfection. It's Tippi Hedren with a fake bird flapping around in her beehive. It's children running in terror as Suzanne Pleshette dies for them! It's a farmer with no eyes! Why is everyone so soulless and trying to make money off a classic from umpteen years ago?
The long-gestating pic has been set up through Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes shingle for some time and Watts involvement is also familiar news, but "The Birds" is beginning to take form, with Martin Campbell in negotiations to direct. The new "Birds" will return to the Daphne du Maurier short story that spawned Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 classic. That film starred Tippie Hedren as a spoiled socialite who runs afoul (or should that be "a-fowl") of some particularly vicious birds in the coastal town of Bodega Bay.
The hotness that was "Transformers" doesn't excuse this travesty, Michael Bay. I hope birds gather as a movement and shit on these people's windshields collectively.

Mr. T says:
These remakes suck, especially on this one. The movie is marvelous. Great cast, perfect direction, excellent scenery. I will not see anymore Hollywood remakes of classics. Look at what they did to the TIME MACHINE. Awful, awful, awful.
Sarah says:
Ok...I may have to make a picket sign & lay down in traffic for this one. "The Birds" is MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE, PERIOD. This is equivalent to digging up my dead mothers grave. NOT COOL. Some things need to be left alone.
devil says:
Didn't the director learn anything from the remake of "Psycho"? And didn't Naomi learn anything from her version of "King Kong"?
Doesn't anyone in Hollywood have a fresh idea?
skinny fat says:
Are they all crazy in Hollywierd? The nerve of remaking a Hitchcock movie.
nastybugger says:
to devil...
no, no, and no.
Yummsh
Oh, settle down, you queens. Of all the ways Hollywood could remake a classic Hitchcock movie, there are far worse ways they could do it than by involving Martin Campbell and Naomi Watts. It could've been McG and Hannah Montana, for chrissakes, so relax.
Oh, and there aren't many cuter things in this world than that top pic of Naomi. Milfy goodness.
rootabega says:
NO. no, no, no, no, NO!
Sharon says:
I totally agree!
The Birds was PERFECTION, and you can't improve on perfection.
I hate Naomi Watts anyway, she has nothing on Tippi.

stolidog says:
I can't wait for the remake of Shawshank Redemption, that movie sucked. And why is it taking so long to remake Lost in Translation? It's been like 5 years, hasn't it?
Sloane says:
Have seen the movie so many times I know it too well. But I was just in Bodega Bay and it hasn't changed, still a tiny town. That said, I don't see how you could improve on the original.
Sloane says:
Also, Naomi Watts seems a little too sweet to be pecked by birds. Tippi Hedren played snooty and stuck up so well you didn't mind so much.
