Joaquin Phoenix did not appreciate the joke that Eva Mendes made that working with him on their film together, "We Own the Night," was "kind of like working with a puppy dog or a two-year-old." Joaquin didn't find the anecdote particularly funny and reacted strongly in an interview he gave to Playboy for their December issue.
"Had I known I was supposed to be a puppy dog, I would have been much more cute and more consistently attentive. My apologies, Eva, but I had a few other scenes that you weren't in. This puppy dog had a lot of work to do."OK, simmer down now, dude. I'm sure she didn't mean anything by it and probably was trying to indicate that she thought you were endearing That is, until you got all upset over it and probably started doing that brooding thing you do, where you run your hands through your hair over and over until it ends up looking all crazy, like here on the red carpet.

now i'm not trying to start a huge debate on food choices and diet or anthing... but here goes.
this dood is a vegan. i recently read an article in health magazine that was a pro/con type of format for a vegan diet. the con side brought up some studies done on vegans that indicated that vegans were prone to intense emotional reactions bordering on anger. the researchers fattributed this to subpar vitamin and mineral retentions, especially if taken in vitamin form. they also tied this to children from poor economic stratas whose diets consisted of mainly empty calories (aka sugar, fat: read mcd's and other "fast foods") and how it affected emotional development. children with low vitamin/mineral diets were prone to "intense emotional reactions bordering on anger."
i wonder if joaquin needs to lay off the coffee (also known to deplete the body of vitamins and minerals, especially if taken as supplement pills) and maybe rely less on gluten/soy and look for protein rich foods like beans or something...
ok, i'm not usually this smart. total slip on my part. vegans, please don't hate, i'm only regurgitating something from an article written by SOMEONE else.

Hmm...I'm not sure how that last comment is "relevant." But I supposed it's "interesting." Anyway, JP is a total hottie in my book, and one's hotness is always relevant.
green cardigan says:
Dude is permanently hungover , I reckon. Thus the constant filthy humour.
Hey Cupcake says:
Whatever's causing the behavior, JP is consistently an angry asshole. There was a recent story about him conducting a phone interview, in which the interviewer asked him about studying for his roles. He basically said that acting is crap and requires no preparation, then hung up.
I hope that Hollywood wises up and stops casting him. Then he can glower in private, and stop annoying the rest of us. He's just a jerk who doesn't appreciate his priviledge.
Logan says:
Who cares what he eats. He didn't take crap from some two-bit skank named Eve M. Good for him!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is a dime a dozen.
Logan says:
Oh, PLEASE-----I'm not one to give up coffee so I can eat BEANS for breakfast--------give it a break already...........preach to someone else..
rosenothorns says:
Hmm, she said it was like working with a puppy dog or two-year old. Now I don't know the context in which she said it but had she stopped at puppy dog I might have thought oh, she thinks he's sweet but when you add "or" a two-year old, it makes me think that she was not complimenting him.
Zekers says:
The older he gets, the more he resembles James Taylor...
flatbellydance says:
Hey Cupcake - JP's not the only celeb pushing the behavior envelope. Hello? Britney, Lindsay...a million other misbehaving actors/actresses? If casting were dependent on good behavior, all of our movies would be a 2 hour black screen.
At least he can act. So what if he's tempermental? He shows up, he acts, he does his job. He just doesn't get into the promoting after the fact. So what - I can't say I blame him.
Lauren S aka Mrs Joaquin Phoenix says:
Joaquin Phoenix is the most talented male actor of today and he had the right to defend himself for Eva mendez's childish comments she's just jealous of his talent...sorry Eva who?
Love you Joaquin
