this goes beyond your usual sense of humor. you need to grow a heart and look outside of this easy, numbing celebrity gossip world. there are some things that are really important and have a devastating impact on the world as a whole, and your jokes about this situation are cheap. I'm embarrassed for you.

I hate to admit it, but I sorta agree with the first comments. I used to love your sense of humor, J.! But lately, your jokes have been changing your image from "amusing cynic" into "angry with no boundaries".

I have to agree with the first two posters. Your comments were not funny, witty or amusing in the least. Rather, they were callously indifferent. Bravo to Hayden for putting herself out there for something she obviously believes in.

I do see humor in this. Obviously she doesn't understand Japan or the Japanese. Japan is a sea nation and has been harvesting the sea for as long as they've been on the islands. Don't screw with the Japanese about their sea-food. They are serious about it. And don't think they are bothered by what other people think about it, they aren't.

I'll have some sushi for J next time I'm over there.

every year in japan, fishermen force entire pods of dolphins into shallow bays where they beat them to death with clubs and stab them with bayonettes. The waters run red with blood for days.
It's estimated that each year, Japan kilss 200,000 to 300,000 dolphins in this manner, over the course of 2 weeks.
Apparently, you can hear the screams of the dolphins for miles.

Humans eat meat! Some eat dogs, some cows (which some people thing are holy), some chickens.
Being at the top of the food chain gives you that option!
As for me....I'd rather have my tuna w/ a little dolphin in it...tastes better that way...

No kidding. We only care cause the Dolphins are cute. Just like the Dennis Leary routine: "What about the Tuna? Well, they're ugly. Who cares?" How do you think hunting Deer here looks to other countries? Japan has been doing this for eons. Seems to me 1, there are a boat load (pun intended) of these dolphins, and 2 they're obviously not THAT smart or they wouldn't swim to this area.

Last time I knew, cows, chickens and pigs were raised specifically for food, how does this compare to dolphins in the ocean?

What does this have to do with political affiliations...somehow I think there may be a Republican or two out there who feels that dolphin slaughter is wrong.

These pictures remind me of a time long ago.

I was doing some gardening, and one of my daughters was my little helper. We were picking
the snails off the plants and putting them in a bucket. When I was finished, I grabbed the bucket to kill the snails. Well, my little daughter was MORTIFIED! She started to cry and carry on, I couldn't believe it. Her face looked just like these pictures of Hayden.

No, I didn't kill the snails that day. She grew kinda hysterical so we put them back in their homes. (in my plants! argh!)

You apparently don't know that only through years of protest have american farmers finally bent to the will of the majority of americans and started free range chickens, pen free pigs, grass fed cows, etc.
If you are so complacent that you are content to wiz on over to Jack in the Box and gorge yourself on the sweeping of the slaughterhouse floor, that's your problem. Just shut your pie hole, or better yet shove it full of processes chicken mcnuggets until you burst, but there are people out there protesting, making conscious purchasing decisions AND MAKING A DIFFERENCE, that you are probably reaping the benefits of and you don't even know it.

because of the ethanol craze for cars....once again the American farmer is taking it in the A$$.
Federally regulated corn prices have gone up for farmer....BUT for ethanol fuel uses...it's cut to almost nothing!
And what do the cause crazy people who are trying to make a difference do...run off with wads of money and attack some one elses food source. Someone else livelyhood.

American farmers are the only people on the planet vigorously fighting quality of life improvements for animals, the organic movement, the no pesticide or hormone movement, and the genetic crop movement. Nobody except American farmers want Americans to eat beef with more antibiotics in them than the average human or chickens pumped up with so many hormones they can't stand. We don't want our pigs brought up in pens where they can't eve turn around. We don't want baby cows stuffed into little black boxes with no light until their ready to be made into veal. We don't want this shit, but, you farmers, you just fight every regulation comind down the pike so that you can keep feeding your fellow Americans this Frankenfood.

I agree Zekers... this doesn't really seem like a political issue. I'm a republican, but that doesn't mean I'm in support of inhumane animal slaughtering methods and I was pretty disgusted by the jokes. My issue lies more in the heartless banter by the author of this article. Regardless of political affiliation, I don't think there's a soul out there that would WANT to see an animal die in a cruel fashion just for food. I eat meat, so I'm sure some of you will have a field day with this comment and call me a hypocrite, but I'd much rather eat a hamburger knowing the cow died in a humane fashion. Not getting clubbed to death like a dolphin does.

Really difficult to respect a country that allows such unnessary slaughter. I have seen some film of the dolphin slaughter, if you can watch it without one tingle in your soul, you are person without any humanity, integrity, or sympathy. It's barbaric.

The Japanese also eat sharks. I guess JAWS is next?

As wrong as I think it is... this is their way of life. While I'm not about beating dolphins, I do believe in allowing people to live their lives on their own terms. Americans should stick to focusing on animal rights in our own country and finish that before we start storming Japan to take care of their issues.

Yep, OK, and let's support their whaling as well as it's their way of life. And we shouldn't really get involved about the dolphins, cause they're gonna need something to eat once the whales are extinct. Quit trying to save tigers too, Asia needs aphrodisiacs.
