Whoah, that is a very pretty, very elegant banana on stage at the Country Music Awards. And I am using that description as one of the highest compliments I can think of because it happens to be one of my favorite fruits. Carrie Underwood looks fabulous and it's a good thing too because she found herself on stage twice to accept a major award last night. Like last year, Carrie was awarded female vocalist of the year and was also honored with the single of the year, for her song "Before He Cheats." While Carrie Underwood was enjoying her second year of success on stage a the CMAs, another "American Idol" alum also graced the stage to perform. Kellie Pickler became so emotionally overcome while performing a song on stage that she had written about her estranged mother, that she sang with tears streaming down her face. I love crazy emotional awards show moments! I want more! Please enjoy it with me after the jump, where we've embedded video of it for your viewing pleasure. But before you do, check out the pix below of Nicole Kidman with hubby, Keith Urban, as well as Kate Walsh of "Private Practice" at the event as well.

Where be my ANTM recap?
So many tears :( :(
Nanc' says:
Carrie Underwood is a good role model for the young ladies out there who are being inundated with photos of Paris, Britney, and Hohan.
Carrie is a "good" girl from a small, Oklahoma town who went back to college to finish her degree and never appears "skank".
If I were K. Pickler, I'd have too much pride to sing a song in public that made me cry but...that's just me.
S says:
Oh my god! Bless her heart.
Cinnamon Jenkinz says:
The Pickler made me all verklempt last nite. Damn her!
Wurk.
TJ says:
It's the little brother crying that put me over the edge.
Anonymous 1981 says:
How much do you wanna bet her answer was "World Peace"? Just kidding, but Carrie does look like she's in the final 5 of the Miss USA pageant.
The dress is beautiful.
Bratrik says:
Ok, that was just kind of weird. Um, a little creepy too... ??????

Bratrik says:
Oops! Sorry guys, I hit post twice. Carrie does look great though!
lolly says:
Damn, I heard it live on the radio, it made me tear up hearing her voice crack, and then I just teared up again watching the video! That song has special meaning to me and my sisters, I love that she had the courage to get up there in front of so many people and sing it, she did stellar! and she looked great too. what was weird or creepy about it??? it's a very personal song!
newrwen says:
I think it is incredibly brave of her to write/sing a song that is so personal. That is what performers do, use their life experiences to touch all of us. I hope one day she is able to have a relationship with her mom - it obviously weighs heavily on her.
stolidog says:
soooo, all male country singers are gay now, is that it?
i mean, kenny chesney and keith urban had to be lovers at some point, no?
just_me says:
anyone who doesn't feel something after watching that has no heart or has never felt any real pain!
That was a rare honest peformance and I appreciated her sharing it with us. I don't like country music but I really do like her!
chutneycarnival says:
wow. that was touching. if you have an unusual relationship with a parent this song makes sense. you try to move on but there really isn't any moving on.
green cardigan says:
I just watched that vid out of curiosity and I'm all teary. Bless her.
I love you Mam.
E-STELLA says:
Seriously? UGH, she cries every time she performs that song. Ok, your mom left you when you were a kid, get over it... Your chances of getting adopted by Angelina just increased! Lucky broad.
Bri says:
#16 (E-Stella) is an idiot. An unfunny idiot at that.
Anyway, it was touching. Bless her heart.
E-STELLA says:
I always put up this apathetic front to hide the fact that my dad left when I was 1 and my mom was too busy whoring around or going out to actually raise me. My childhood was spent either being cared for by strangers or molested by my caretakers. As an adult, I am finally realizing that I am an orphan, always was, but never knew it as a child. Kellie's performance was amazing and heartfelt. Sorry if I offended anyone with my last post.
Country Music Sucks says:
Who cares country music sucks! Please!
RAE4KMA says:
I get teary everytime I hear that song. I totally cried watching her cry during her performance, that has to be so hard, I can't imagine that happening to me let alone singing about it on LIVE TV in front of Millions... Go Kellie!!
E-STELLA says:
ok, Bri, I didn't realize your lesbionic feelings for the little inbred bumpkin... carry on...
#18 is hilarious! I'd want to be me too :)
That said, I stand by my real post, #16. Get over it.
