Dean Cain is just the first victim in Jennifer Garner's quest to jab people with needles in public. Well, I guess she does have a reason for wanting to do this that, in context, sounds much more reasonable than how I just positioned it in this first sentence. She's working with the American Lung Association in their campaign to raise public awareness about getting flu shots. The campaign is entitled, "Faces of Influenza," and is enjoying the participation from Jennifer Garner and Dean Cain, who are trying to get people to go get their flu shots this fall to avoid getting sick this upcoming flu season.
"Women play an important role in a family. It's our job to take care of those we love, that's why I make sure my family is protected against influenza.""Influenza isn't just a cold. It can be much more serious. Chances are you or someone you know should be immunized."
Ugh. I hate getting shots. I think the problem for me is knowing that it's going to hurt. I prefer an element of surprise---like, I might agree to it if I knew that a doctor would be dressed up like a ninja, would stalk me for a few weeks and would just shoot a dart at me with the vaccine in it in my neck when I least suspected it.

Zelda says:
Man Dean Cain is so sexy. He has such great hair. Yummy...
Jeanie says:
I love Jennifer Garner, but I can think of a million better causes to advocate for than this one. Flu shots are for at-risk populations - the chronically sick and the elderly. They are not for healthy young people. I'm not even convinced they work. One winter our battle axe of a secretary made everyone in the office get a flu shot so we wouldn't get sick and pass germs to the pregnant lady in the office. Guess what? I got the flu that winter.
nastybugger says:
jeanie, I had a similar experience.
one year, in my office of 11 people, 2 people got the flu shot and they were the ONLY ones to get sick.
the flu shot can only have so many strains of the virus in it, and if you get a strain that wasn't, you get the flu. definitely for the young, those with compromised immune systems and the elderly.
MardiGras says:
Dean Cain is starting to look like Wayne Newton. Scary!!
And I agree with the other posters about flu shots. The only time I ever got one, I got the flu. And I hadn't gotten that sick in years! I would never get another one.
Alicea says:
I saw the photos on the celebrity and millionaire dating site named searchingmillionaire.com. Seems her boyfriend is good looking.
FeistyFreedomGirl says:
My parents always made me get the flu shot each year when I was younger because I have diabetes and I ALWAYS got the flu immediately afterwards. Vaccines damage your immune system. I heavily researched vaccines and read many books on the subject and I will never put a vaccine into my body again!
Interloper says:
I always get the jab. It doesn't hurt at all and yes, it may or may not protect against the current strains, but I'm prone to flu and in the six years I've had the jab, i haven't once had it. I get colds occasionally like everyone else but flu's entirely different. If you catch a real flu it can deteriorate into pneumonia, which happened to me in the past. Plus the shots are usually free, what do you have to lose?
And FeistyFreedomGirl - it is IMPOSSIBLE to get flu from a flu shot. I don't mean almost impossible I mean IMPOSSIBLE. If you got it right after a flu shot you already had it in your system before the shot. Or you caught a cold.
