Film Independent Spirit Awards Nominees Announced

The Film Independent Spirit Awards nominations were announced today, with the top nominees including the comedy, "Juno," and the drama, "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly." Announcers included Lisa Kudrow and Zach Braff, both of whom found success on their respective television series ("Friends" and "Scrubs") before branching out into various independent film projects. Dawn Hudson, Executive Director of Film Independent, was also on hand to announce the nominees, among whom were Angelina Jolie, for her her performance in "Mighty Heart," Parker Posey for "Broken English," Sienna Miller in "Interview," and the relatively new names, Ellen Page in "Juno" and Tang Wei for "Lust, Caution." As for best actors, Phillip Seymour Hoffman earned a nod for "The Savages," Don Cheadle in "Talk to Me", Frank Laneglla in "Starting out the Evening," Pedro Castaneda in "August Evening," and Tony Leung in "Lust, Caution."
