At the age of 76, Ike Turner, whose professional and romantic relationship with Tina Turner made him as famous as it did notorious as a musician and abusive husband has died, presumably in his sleep and from natural causes. However, it seemed that his public image was on somewhat of an upswing, with Turner earning a Grammy this past year for "Risin' With the Blues" in the traditional blues album division of the awards. It was confirmed that he passed away at his home in San Marcos, California, this morning with no details yet available on the specifics of his death.

It's a sad fact that many of the most creative people are people you would not want to spend any time with.
Drinks with Jim Morrison? No thanks.
John Lennon, my god I love him, but he wasn't a saint to his first wife, a little slappy slappy.
Keith Moon, the same.
All people who's music I adore, but...
Ike Turner was the first musician to put distortion on his guitar on tape. He is credited with the first rock and roll song. So...
R.I.P. and rock on.
