This is one of those old Hollywood "could have been" tales. Kind of like Tom Selleck was initially cast as Indiana Jones but couldn't get out of his "Magnun P.I." contract and now likes to get drunk and rue the day he was almost running around with a whip and Karen Allen. And throwing empty whiskey bottles at the CBS production offices in midnight drive-bys. Anyway, Will Smith's new flick "I Am Legend" made $137 million in two weeks at the box office. I caught it. Will Smith does a good job of being the last crazy on Earth, and seeing New York absolutely empty and grown-over is kind of wonderful. But the creatures look very CGI. Jesus, sorry, you don't come here for movie reviews. Anyway, did you know Arnold Schwarzenegger was supposed to play Will's role some years ago? it's true! The script for "I Am Legend" was reportedly floating around for umpteen years. Governor of California Arnie was up for the role, but ended up passing to do "Last Action Hero". And we all know how well that turned out. Now he's governor and Will's a superstar at the end of the world wishing Tom Cruise would stop offering to audit him for stray body thetans.
