Ellen DeGeneres, still sorta sad-looking since that whole thing with the dog adoption intrigue and screwing over her writers, is kicking ass in the ratings with her syndicated talk show. She hit a season high two weeks ago, averaging a 2.4 household rating, up 9% from the week before. Her show also had the biggest year-over-year gain over any first-run syndicated strip compared with the same week a year ago, rising 9%, according to Nielsen Media Research. And here we all thought her ship had run aground with that bizarre dog thing. No one wants to see the world's most cheerful and happy go lucky lesbian sobbing on the air over a dog. It makes us all uncomfortable and want to change the channel over to Price is Right. Or HBO, and you know "White Oleander" is on and I've seen that damn movie 8,000 times so help us out, Ellen. And stop sucking the hot out of Portia's face!

I love Ellen, and I'm glad that she has gotten past Iggy-gate. As for crossing the picket line, I think she was forced to make a tough decision, but in the end realized that she had a responsibility not to just the writers, but also to the countless other staff members who were being affected by the strike. However unpopular her decision may have been in Hollywood, I think most average Americans respect her for the choice that she made.

While "The Ellen Show's" ratings of 2.4 is an improvement for her show, her competitors like Oprah and Dr. Phil have double the ratings points that her show has on a regular basis. Here are Oprah's and Dr. Phil's usual ratings numbers: Oprah's ratings (5.5-6.3 range) and Dr. Phil's ratings (4.9-5.5 range). Ellen has a long way to go to catch her main competitors in the syndication world because they normally have two to two and a half the viewers that her show has regularly. As for Portia, I think in her recent photos, her "sexy quotient" that she once had that used to radiate through her photographs has definetly been missing for some time now. When you look at photos taken of her during her "Ally McBeal" and "Arrested Development" days in comparison to now, it's like night and day. Contrary to what Ellen's publicist has stated, I still believe that Portia and Ellen are having problems. The source from those rumors were Ellen's own staff members who currently work on her show and a neighbor of her and Portia's. I think that if Portia is really unhappy, that could be the reason for that "sexy quotient" being abscent in her photos now. That could explain why she just does not look as "hot" as we used to see her. Also, Ellen's 15 year age difference could be playing a role as well. I agree with another commenter that Portia needs to leave that relationship with Ellen. Ellen's average looking appearance has now rubbed off on Portia. Now Portia looks average also most of the time. I used to think that Ellen was funny back in the 90's with the sitcom she had. But now, when I watch her show, I usually do not find anything that she is saying remotely funny at all. Ellen also appears to be controlling and jealous of the attention that Portia still gets from photographers when they are at the red carpet events. Portia can do much better! I am sure that there are quite a few attractive women who are successful out in LA. They may not have as much wealth and be in the entertainment industry as Ellen, but money and power is not everything in life. PS. The networks should cancel Ellen's show just for ruining Portia's great looks! Portia DeRossi was most men and most lesbian's fantasy women. Ellen should be banished from the entertainment industry for life for managing to do that.

She went to Il Sole looking like that? Ellen is such a slob but, personally I think Portia looks much better now. Remember the blond hair/black brow phase? Personality wise I used to like Ellen until all this success got to her head. And what she did to her ex when she hooked up with Portia, not cool.

Jules, I really agree 100% with your accessment about Ellen. That is also why I no longer enjoy watching her show anymore. To me, Ellen comes off as "It's all about Ellen." I do remember Portia's black eyebrows but I think that was when she first started acting and came to America. I think that she is still beautiful, but the hot and sexy factor seems to be missing now when I view photos of her. I think overall that Portia looked the most beautiful when she was in a relationship with Franscesca Gregorini. Also,Portia's beautful tresses were also a part of her sexy quotient for me and she cut her tresses after the Emmy's this year...Argh!!!Hopefully, Portia will grow her hair length back!

I knew it would be a matter of time before Ellen "fanatics" would enter this discussion and tell us to leave her alone. Because I no longer like Ellen Degeneres does not make me a bad or mean person. I have my opionions about her and her relationship with Portia and I am voicing them just like I or most other people would about any other celebrity couple. Just because Ellen is gay,it does not exempt her from criticism. other celebs are routinely criticized day in and day out. Why should Ellen be exempt. Oh, and by the way I am a lesbian also, so Ellen "fanatics" do not even attempt to label me as a homophobe or a hater. I just no longer care for Ellen Degeneres and her tv show.
