Madonna's directorial debut, "Filth and Wisdom", will premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in February. Considering her illustrious film career, I wouldn't have high hopes for an Oscar winner. I can name two movies where she wasn't bad. "Desperately Seeking Susan", where she basically played herself. And "Dick Tracy" where she basically played the warped version of who she perceives herself to be - a mysterious whore in a lot of vintage dresses crawling across desks with her ass in the air. "Filth and Wisdom" is described as a "low budget music-based comedy" starring Richard E. Grant and some other no-names. I bet she's the kind of director who makes the actors shove pushpins in their asses to make sure the tears are real. Like William Friedkin. Linda Blair was bouncing around on a friggin' sharp bedspring and he didn't cut! Those screams were real! And Ellen Burstyn has back problems from when he yanked her across the room! And if he wanted an actor to portray realistic shock, he'd smack them in the face out of nowhere right before they started rolling! That's the kind of director Madonna is.
Her film will be among the fifty included in the "Panorama" sidebar during the festival, which runs from the 7th to the 17th. Hopefully there's linedancing.

Madonna won best actress for Evita at the Golden Globes. I love Madonna in Body of Evidence & I think shes funny in Whos That Girl. I think this movie she directed will a big hit with the critics. Truth or Dare which she produced was critically acclaimed. Usually when something comes directly from Madonnas control its of important quality. Shes very consistant. While everyone is busy talking shit about her, shes busy focusing & improving.
