We reported earlier as to how the Palm Springs International Film Festival took on a slightly somber tone, as the attendees weighed in on celebrities boycotting the Golden Globes and their concern about Britney Spears. Well, the evening wasn't really that depressing at all. Why? Because celebrities really love receiving awards. Highlights of the evening were when a clearly touched Nikki Blonsky accepted the Rising Star Award from actress Ricki Lake (Emile Hirsch won the male the Rising Star Award), and when the cast of 'Hairspray' accepted the Ensemble Performance Award. However, it was the glowing Halle Berry accepting the Desert Palm Achievement Award from Director John Singleton that was the highlight of the evening.
