Weirdness in the Heath Ledger case, according to Page Six. Also signs that people need to relax around celebrity and maybe watch a few PSA's on what to do in an emergency. Reports are now stating that the masseusse who discovered Heath Ledger's body, Diane Lee Wolozin, called Mary-Kate Olsen twice when she discovered Heath's lifeless body on Tuesday. And oddly, neither of them called 911 at first. Uh, hello? Wolozin says that Mary-Kate and Heath were dating, and that she punched Mary-Kate's button in Heath's cell phone when the actor wouldn't respond to her attempt to wake him. She also says that she had a "relationship" with both Heath and Mary-Kate. Okay, so she's masseuse to the stars. Fine. In the first call, Ms. Wolozin screamed to Mark-Kate that Heath was unconscious and she didn't know what to do. Uh, call 911?

Mary-Kate told her that she was sending her private security over. Uh, call 911? I don't care if someone is a celebrity and their drug problem, multiple personality disorder, or tendency to wear corsets and heels is exposed, - we still want em' to live, call 911! She called Mary-Kate again saying Heath was cold to the touch and she thought he was dead. Mary-Kate responded "I already have people coming over." Uh, were those people EMT's? Heath is believed to have already been dead when Wolozin found him, according to officals, but what the hell? Didn't anyone else attend first grade here? DIAL 911 when things like this happen!

I read that the private security guard was also an EMT?

Unfortunately, people don't always think clearly in a crisis.

Idiots...

Tho the bodyguard MK sent was apparently an EMT so that makes her less of an idiot...

January 24, 2008 2:10 PM

image-conscious hollywood has elevated public opinion to a higher priority than personal safety. sad that it had to be taken so literally in this case. here's hoping other celebs are communicating to their staff to 'value LIFE above image' -- drug problems, mental disorders, or corset wearing issues be damned.

I will never understand how star fucking sycophants forget that even famous people are first and foremost humans who, when in dire circumstances, need professional HELP (as in paramedics and medical services). My massage therapist is a concerned professional who always inquires about my health. I can not imagine her not calling 911 immediately had she found me lying unresponsive in bed.
Regardless of whether or not drugs played a part in Ledger's death, this is indicative of a culture that, above all else, insulates and infantalizes celebrities. Who thinks it is appropriate to set up massage table when there is someone apparently passed out in front of them? Who would think it appropriate to call another famous friend first instead of 911? No one in my life would put up with me being an addict without intervening. Why does no one do this for wealthy celebrities?

No Sh*t!

Perhaps...just perhaps...there was something to cover up and the masseuse was uncomfortable doing that on her own and needed the advice of someone else before doing so to remove herself from liability? If you think of everything riding on a person of that nature when it comes to all forms of "accidental" death (liability for productions, etc.), it makes sense that the cops weren't the first people called.

It made me heartsick to hear about her not calling 911 first...have they said if the EMT even made it over before the private security?

Call 911. Even my seven year-old knows that. Anyone who thinks otherwise, you are a fuck up. How dare you call people idiots. Get with the program in the USA. S_M_G you are a fuck up.

I agree with DUH. MK and Heath shared Someone who provided them with Something, and that certain Someone needed to get over to Heath's apt and get rid of the Something. No illegal substances were found on the premises, right? How convenient.
Or maybe MK has powers of raising the dead, only known to her inner circle? (take no offense, Christians, I'm kidding) And it's too bad I have to add that but I've been flamed for less.

I don't care if the Mary-Kate's bodyguard was an EMT- he wouldn't have medicines and medical equipment on his person to save Heath's life. There are reports he was alive when they discovered but in cardiac arrest - then there are reports he had been dead a few hours.

Whatever the case, 9-1-1 should have been called while the other person performed CPR on Heath- until paramedics arrived.

This is just pure stupidity. I can understand they were in distress and probably not thinking clearly but come on!

Brianna, i think i read somewhere that the emt's made it there before the private security did.

and Logan, my gracious honey, are you having a tough day? i think S_M_G was agreeing that 911 should have been called pronto. and yes, idiots is not a nice name to call someone. *ahem* neither is fuck-up *ahem* however, a person who does not call 911 when another person is nonresponsive just *might* fall into the idiot category. hope your day gets better -- check in on your 7 year old -- they are always, always good for a lift in spirits!

:-)) I didn't see THAT coming :-)

Peachpie, thanks sweetie :-)

I'm alive! To be with my family! Not a bad day here! Junkie is junkie, prescription pills or illegal substances. Heath was a first class junkie. He abandoned his daughter, to get high. Heath was a piece of shit, and his daughter is the one who will suffer, so her daddy could get high. It just sucks.

January 24, 2008 3:03 PM

Some of you people are so dumb, she called MK because she did not want an instant media circus and MK's security was an EMT. If I were famous, I would thank my lucky stars that my masseusse used her brain and thought enough of me to refrain from calling 911 and causing a ruckus. It could have been nothing more than him "passing out" or sleeping too deep, it wasn't but I wish it was...

there are reports that there was a 45 min delay between the first call to olson, and the arrival of the police, + the olson security guy, (who arrived at the same time) so, yeah, i wonder if there was "something" that needed to be cleaned up, or removed b/c it doesnt really make sense. the massage therapist was a grown woman in her 50's, why wouldnt she have called 911 immediately? unless he was so clearly and obviously dead that she went into shock and wasnt thinking clearly? but how does that report about him being in cardiac arrest fit in then? almost as confusing to me is why people insist on leaving notes and cellophane wrapped roses and teddy bears on the sidewalk? i understand feeling shocked by his death, and wanting to connect in someway, so go rent one of his movies, why leave heartfelt notes (as heartfelt as on can be with a complete stranger you know nothing about, ) on the sidewalk that are obviously just going to be tossed in the trash? do they think heath is going to somehow know they put them there? i didnt get it with princess di, and i dont get it now. do something more constructive with your feelings then littering.

Oh now I get it! Logan thought I was calling J. Harvey et al "idiots" LOL. Calm down man, I was agreeing with you :-)

junkies ALWAYS stick together, unless they are fighting for a quick high........and don't have the cash on hand..........

January 24, 2008 3:17 PM

Who cares if there might have been "stuff" around, this is a persons life! Unless Mary Kate works for 911, that would have been the ONLY reason to call her. BS is what I say. Too many people don't have any balls, and really, does it take balls to call friggin 911?

LOL! junkies fighting for junkie rights! Oy!

January 24, 2008 3:32 PM

I read that both EMT and "the people" ms. retard sent got there about the same time... we can now say this and that, but we all know 911 should of been called first.

Them to ding-dongs have to LIVE w/this for the rest of their lives.... the what "if's" will get to them....

please don't speak ill about the dead.... Please show some respect.... I would say the same if someone would dare talk about YOU and you were dead.

LOL! Heath died. He took the easy way out. It's the kid he left behind that has the HARD life ahead. Goodness, all these people supporting this massive junkie! Wow! Oy! Death is easy, it's the innocents left behind that have to suffer - drug junkies suck shit!

someone's posting under several names again.... tsk tsk. that's weak.

Yeah someone is bored at work and posting under different names...Loser...

January 24, 2008 4:00 PM

I completely agree that 911 should have been called first.

That being said...I am a complete mess in any emergency (and certainly have never been involved in an emergency of this caliber)and I totally lose my head and have no idea what to do. I don't stay calm I run around like a chicken with its head cut off. So it is totally possible that I would have done something stupid too.

Second, Mary-Kate was 3000 miles away and would have no idea how bad the situation was. I probably wouldn't jump to the worst possible conclusion, that the guy was dead or nearly so. She very may well not have thought it was a life and death situation.

And if there was something to hide, couldn't the masseuse just flush it? And theoretically if he had (illegal) drugs in his apt would anyone know EXACTLY where to find them all? Would they all be in the same place? I have prescrption and OTC meds in my house and they are in bathrooms and bedrooms and a hall closet. So it seems like it would be hard to hide everything from investigators unless he had only a really small amount of drugs or they were in just one place.

January 24, 2008 4:06 PM

typical of the Olsens to be so stupid, I believe this 100% And if Heath touched either of those trolls then obviously he would have been very suicidal - who is gonna come out and say: "I dated an Olsen?" Personally I´d rather die

January 24, 2008 4:21 PM

yeah, junkies will stick together. then after they die people say to respect them - really? why, its their kids and family that have to suffer. why respect them choosing their drug over their families? heath was a druggie, period.

You're right, CaptCRACK, no one should love a person who has chemical addiction issues. We should only love and care about perfect people like you.
*rolls eyes*

January 24, 2008 4:47 PM

lol T-Bone! well said!

and here's a question i haven't heard discussed anywhere yet.... if mko was 3000 miles away, how come her private security guy was not? does she not travel w/her security dude? i saw on the news that the masseuse was friends with the security dude and knew he was an emt.

January 24, 2008 4:47 PM

Remember the rules of celebritude?

Live Hard! Die Young!

Leave a Good Looking Corpse!

Obviously, if you're all wrapped up in celebritude, the clean up is more important than the life saving with possible scandal...So you call MKO, not 911..He might be dead, but he'll look good as a corpse...

And I'm sure his family truly appreciates you for pointing out such a horrible and possibly false accusation of their son / brother / father / friend / husband.

I guess being a celebrity means you don't reserve the right to rest in peace. Nor does your family reserve the right to grieve without this crap being pushed in their face, despite the fact that they didn't choose this life.

Asshole.

heath, coke head, drug addict, just like anna nicole, i hope brit spears is not next. so many kids left behind! this is horrible. drugs and junkies everywhere in hollywood. when will it stop?

If you really cared about the kids, logan, you wouldn't be wishing death upon their parents.

January 24, 2008 5:32 PM

drug addicts and junkies will always try to gain sympathy and they are just losers,,,and heath was a big fat loser. he sold his soul for drugs and crapped on his kid

Then kick rocks, and go to another thread if you hated him so much! Stop being a disrespectful 12 year old and grow up some! You're not helping your cause. If anything you're making yourself look like an ass.

Now go back to your homework kiddies. I hear English Composition is a great class to take.

First, an EMT is at least someone who is certified in CPR. They were in Manhattan. Have you guys ever heard of Manhattan? Sometimes there's traffic jams. Other emergencies already happening. Must I go on? If someone called me from NYC and said my friend was in trouble, of course I would send over someone on my staff if they were a fucking EMT. Unbelievable.

Second, have any of you guys ever walked into a bed room with a cold, possibly dead person lying on the bed? Me either. The closest I have come is to walk into my kitchen to find my dog [with a pre-existing heart condition] out cold on the floor. She was just a dog and I still stood there like someone was reciting Japanese algebra to me. I stared at her for minutes before I gathered my thoughts on what to do. My point being, if that was an otherwise healthy young PERSON I would have been beyond floored. Calling 911 makes it all the more real that it is happening. Don't judge her because she walked in that room less than ready to deal with a dead or dying man. She is not a medical professional. She did all she could. She would have saved him if she could. Lay the fuck off.

There should be a liability for NOT calling.

Not calling 911 is a crime in my opinion!

I agree(with the guy early on) Ho's think on there feet not likely to be a coicidence that they "forgot" to call 911. Who needs the cops when you have a dead body, possibly unpleasant bits of real life lying about, cover the shit up then call 911 duh.

wow. how uninformed...

I'm sure the massuese was in shock and had no idea what to do. And it sounded as if he already wasn't alive...so 911 doesn't help much anymore.

AND...

MK's bodyguard was an EMT as people mentioned above. He was at Ashley's apartment a block away so it would make sense to contact him first as he would be able to respond quickest.

911 should have been called ASAP. I have no idea why the masseuse didn't just do that. However, when people are very protective of their privacy, calling the police is probably something they try to avoid doing. MK wasn't there, she didn't know how severe the situation was, but she probably figured if she sent her security over he would know what to do.

It wasn't the dumbest thing ever, and 911 did end up getting called anyway. As far as having something to hide...maybe, but they'll find out about that soon enough when they do an autopsy.

Well, he's a celebrity. She didn't know if he had been out drinking, and he was just hungover.. She didn't want to make a big deal about it!
Press would be all over it, and she didn't want to be blamed if Heath were just hungover, and the press got all over it, "Heath Ledger hungover, false alarm for 911!"

yah maybe the person somewhere in the middle of this page was right....maybe it was just a cover-up for something they obviously didn't want the police to find out about. I mean why would MK send her personal EMT instead of just calling the ambulance. Who knows really. I feel bad for the guy though. I mean heath ledger's dead already but still, his life could have possibly been saved. Possibly MK for unwantingly getting into this mess too.
