Awards season continued with last night's Director's Guild Awards. Receiving top honors were Ethan and Joel Coen for their drama "No Country for Old Men," beating out contenders from "There Will Be Blood," "Michael Clayton," "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly," and "Into the Wild."
"No Country for Old Men" has been nominated for 8 Oscars, and it seems their Directors Guild Award is a huge signal they will win again at the Academy Awards. There are only six DGA film director winners since 1949 who didn't go on to win the Oscar in the same year. Last year Martin Scorsese was another director who won both the DGA award and Oscar for directing "The Departed."
The stars in attendance included Ellen Page, Adrian Grenier, Vanessa Williams, Amy Ryan and Kristen Chenowith. Many of these stars will also be gracing the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet this evening. Come back to Socialite Life for full coverage of the SAG Awards!
