Christina Ricci Will Pay You to Get That Monkey Off Her Breast

Christina Ricci Attacked By Chimpanzee

Christina Ricci looks fresh-faced and super-cute with those bangs of hers. I'm also loving the trench coat and purse combo. I like that she's all glam, except for her jeans and sneakers peeking out underneath it all. Very cute.

But what's not cute is how Christina seems to keep having strange run-ins with chimpanzees recently. First, there's the most recent incident, that took place on the set of her new film, "Speed Racer." PETA is pissed with the film's producers because a chimp on the set was struck during filming. The animal bit an actor, which allegedly was when the animal was then hit. The animal rights organization has written a letter to producer Joel Silver, asking for Warner Bros. to stop using live animals in films.

Then, there's the case of the chimpanzee on Ricci's film, "Penelope." Apparently, during a scene with the chimp, the animal grabbed a hold of Ricci's breast and refused to let go. According to Ricci, "Monkeys are crazy and you never what they'll grab onto; I don't like unpredictable animals." I feel like actors are kind of the same way. That's why I wouldn't recommend trying to date either--especially monkey actors.

I love her handbag.

I wish fucking Hollyweird would stop using animals in their movies. Two reasons: 1) you know the movie sucks if they need to use an elephant/chimp/orangantan/whatever; 2) the animals should be protected. I don't give a shit about the stupid actors.

Alternatively, make chimps eligible for Oscars!

Why are we mistreating monkeys by putting them in films?! I'm not a big PETA fan, but they are right on this one. I will not be seeing Speed Racer.

enid, your an idiot..how does using an animal in a film effect its safety..I have been on sets where animals are being used, and let me tell you, they are treated better than the crew! ( Ok maybe not the crew, but certainly the extras)Furthermore, what are we to do about all the animals film makers require to make good solid movies? Puppets? CGI? Couldnt you just see Russel Crowe and Christian bale riding puppets in 3:10, or a digital dog with Will smith in Legand. Finally come on people pull it together, we spend so much time and energy into animal rights, what about people rights? I walk my dog down the street and he gets more attention from people than I do, something strange is happening. Hell there ought to be organizations that try to remove people like Paris Hilton, Zach Efron, Justin timberlake, that flame guy from fantastic four, Hayden christiansen, hilary duff, dane cook, alicia keys, beyonce knowls, (any muscian who fancys themselfs fit to act) from films. Lets worry about that before we take out animals..I mean, I am sure that monkey played the role of monkey better than christina ricci did trixie.

an animal being needed for the story is different than throwing one to be funny or cute. and when they are properly trained and treated they can work well on set. the trouble, especially with chimps and other monkeys, is that there are few places that really take care of them. many trainers use abuse to bully them and the monkeys, like people, don't go for that. same thing happens with horses but not as often.

CGI animals for close human contact just isn't going to work as well as the real thing. so perhaps what we need is for someone to step up and demand some oversite of how the animals are treated. before, during and after filming. I remember PETA complaining about how 'old' chimps (ie ones over about 10 years old that were too big and strong to use on sets) were being dumped into cages and basically left to rot, or adopted off to people that had no business with a monkey as a pet. so why not move to make the only legal recourse donating them to a zoo or such. some place with the means to properly care for them. that's at least a start until they can be totally eliminated. same with dogs, horses etc. have their 'retirement' plan set up within the law, as well as how they are treated during training and on set.
