Sean "Diddy" Combs made history at Fashion Week with his Sean John collection coming down the runway only on African American models. Kevin Federline, Ellen Pompeo, Helena Christiansen, Fabulous, Q-Tip, and even fellow designer Roberto Cavalli came to see the designs.
Another interesting aspect of the night -- Diddy brought Tyson Beckford down the runway at the end of the show. The two men have been feuding over a $5 million breech of contract lawsuit Tyson filed on both of Diddy's companies, Sean John and Bad Boy Records. I guess that has blown over, and Tyson is once again representing the Sean John line on the runway -- which hopefully means we'll be seeing Tyson's pretty face in new Sean John ads soon.

He's making a mockery or the Fashion Industry. I am not impressed.

Despise Puff Daddy and his whole racist entourage! He treats his baby momma like a typical thug. Can't stand him or anything he touches
Penelope says:
Racism much? Oh if the situation were in a different color, what an uproar there would be. I'll send a message to Mr. Combs by not buying a thing from his "collection."
Joya says:
OH PUH LEASE!!!!!!!!!!! the runways were LILY WHITE for YEARS with no one complaining!!!! A LOT of them STILL are!!! I APPLAUD him and give him a standing ovation.
Persistent Cat says:
I totally agree with Joya.
Is Tyson Beckford the first one in the main picture (the guy to Diddy's right)? Cuz holy God, he's hot.
rocco says:
No matter how you look at it, it's just racism twisted around.
When will caucasians stop carrying around a guilty conscience because of slavery issues that we're not even responsible for? That was well over a hundred and fifty years ago when none of us were even alive!
As for Puff Daddy/Diddy or whatever he calls himself nowadays, he's just a thug who'll someday (hopefully) suffer the same fate as Tupac and Biggie.

Tyson is absolutely gorgeous but what the fuck has Diddy dressed him up in!? What self respecting man would wear a skirt and a jacket with what looks like a fur collar!!! That´s fuckin hideous!
Persistent Cat says:
The clothes are bad and Diddy is an idiot but what really would keep me from buying the clothes is the somewhat affiliation with K-Fed. Ew!

I am not a fan of P. Diddy's and my beau does not wear Sean John, but I have to admit that this is rather exciting. That he's showcasing beautiful models who happen to be black is a beautiful thing. Many, many, many designers showcase only Caucasian models, it's never seen as historical, it's seen as the norm. I'm not race obsessed, but, it's lovely to see this. I hope others copy this. It would be nice to see a show w/ all beautiful Asians, etc. mix things up a little, it can't hurt.

He used all black models? OMG what groundbreaking news this is...somewhere...for someone...the one person who gives a crap. Honestly.
blah says:
I'd love to hear Diddy say "I only want black models, no white girls", and then I love to hear Calvin Klien say "I only want white models, no black models" and then watch the upraor ensue over Calvin Klien being a racist.

Persistent Cat says:
The shows are always white. If it were me, I'd want to use only Canadians (I know, a country is not a race but still).
People always bitch about the "black tv shows" and how they only use black actors, etc. but really, think of the ten years Seinfeld and Friends were on the air. You can probably count on your two hands how many black characters were featured on both shows combined.
Someday, hopefully, we'll get to a point where we won't even notice stuff like this but until then, good for him. He's giving them work in an industry that doesn't exactly give black models a big break.
And my God, Tyson is just so damn pretty. I want to keep him in a jar in my basement.
2008isgreat says:
Good job for P. Diddy. The models looked great and the clothes looked even better! I think the line is very nice - my son wears his line of clothing.
It is interesting that the act of only having black models is considered racists by some people. It's funny how other major designers can have only 1 or 2 blacks in their show and it's not considered racist.(gotta have at least 1 (black) not to be considered racists, same as "I have a friend who's black") Things are only considered racist when blacks have the money and brains to control something they own. In this case it's the clothes. The fact that all the models are black is awesome and it's refreshing for us black folks to see blacks in the financial positions to help create opportunity for other blacks in an industry that doesn't support them. Go head on brotha!
fifth_miracle says:
Thank you Fluffy>>That was exactly what was on my mind!! These show cater ONLY to non-blacks. Also there are designers that request for ONLY white models. Or even worse, there is a quota for people of color. How backwards is that?? I just don't get how people think this is racist act. Until you can step inside a person of colors shoes you have no place to EVEN say something is racist. I applaud Sean Combs for featuring only black models for his Fashion week show. I think it was fabulous. Now, that withstanding, I am not the biggest fan of his work, but I do admire what he has done during fashion week. I guess every lame duck doesn't always have lame ideas>>kudos to you Sean Sean to get will only with.
If anything this will cast a huge light on the fashion industry and focus on the ideals of beauty. That is beauty is not just pale skin, light eyes, flat tush, blonde hair and cute little button nose>>Its so much more than that. There are so many beautiful people out there that aren't a size 0.

"And my God, Tyson is just so damn pretty. I want to keep him in a jar in my basement."
DITTO!!!
even in a skirt and a furry manblouse he's hot.
i don't care about the rumors tyson... you are straight enough for me.
ps. the all african-american models is fine with me. sort of like a specialty calendar. and if they all look as good as Tyson i'd like to buy the video. (pdiddy and his project ho mama can go to hell though... just on GP)
make it even says:
he should have had 2 white models.
that would have been funny as hell.
eyes of green says:
Um...Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, Iman - are these all white women? I'm pretty sure they've been in fashion shows for years.
T-Bone says:
Persistant - the only reason why people "b*tch" is because it fuels the flames of racism to reverse it. And that's all Diddy's doing, and so many others as well. They don't want an "all white world", and will cry "racism" at every corner, but they're certainly open to creating their own all black world and not allowing whites in it, and that's supposed to be ok, I guess. It doesn't make sense, but whatever. Keep fueling the fires of segregation, Diddy, and the rest of us will keep trying to rise above it.
ash says:
yall need to friggin suk it up.
diddy did this becauee a) BLACK HISTORY MONTH
b) most designer shows cater to the WHITE AUDIENCE using skinny white models
sue a black a man for catering to his people. yall need to calm the fuk down
Johanna says:
"sue a black a man for catering to his people"
This pretty much says it all, doesn't it? "HIS PEOPLE"? YOU SAID "HIS PEOPLE" and you don't think that's racists ASH??? Let me guess, you're black? My opinion - you're black AND racist.
Persistent Cat says:
Eyes of green, not to be mean but you don't have a point. You named 3 models. Iman is in her 50s, she's not working the runways. Tyra and Naomi are the only exceptions and will come with a huge price tag. But they are names and that's why they'll be used.
I'm so pale, my winter white legs would cause blindness from their reflection but I don't see this one bit as racism. In the same way I won't listen to a man cry about sexism. Like a poster above said, until you've walked in someone else's shoes, you just can't know.
AND, do we know that Diddy said, "only black models" or did he just happen to hire black models only? Two different things and the latter is nothing different than the other designers who feature white models only.
nate says:
Im am for one NOT a Diddy fan.AT ALL... and I am white...so lets start there. But to call him racist for using all African American models is ..well interesting. That would make far more than 3/4's (if not more) of designers racist as well. Im a model and i went to 4 shows this past week and out of all 4 I only saw 2 black models! Max Azria had one (but she's practically a super model so that shouldnt count) and D Squared mens line had 0... zilch...nada.
ashley says:
have you ever noticed that when you DO see a black model she/he is always overtly gorgeous? And because of that they turn into supermodels. white models (not all but most) often look very plain jane and have a lack luster presence. They are often just thin and plain looking.
neil says:
Puffy, Diddy, whatever the speech-impediment-afflicted idiot calls himself these days is only a "fashion designer" because he has an obscene amount of money...not because of any real talent. Real designers must feel sick to their stomachs when they see this bullshit. And all-black fashion shows? Hmm...no big surprise though...
I don't actually think that all-white or all-black things are necessarily racist, but blacks seem to want it all their way. (ie. all white=racist, all black=acceptable)
mo says:
I think it's funny when a black designer employs black models he's a racist. That's TOO funny! But if you look down the runway typically, it's nothing but white faces! I don't see anyone criticizing Guess designers, Calvin Klein who ONLY uses white models, I don't see anyone criticizing the magazines for only plastering white faces all over! Give me a break! Maybe if the bigger designers would employ more black models male and female, and stop excluding them, maybe P Diddy and others would not have to go and and employ just black people.

model09 says:
um first and foremost to the black and whit people commenting this post, its not that serious. I am and don't feel that diddy should have put that much effort into making it an all model cast just like someone as CK or TH should make their cast all white. But I do feel that a good model is a good model if you look good you look good. Its very difficult for an African American male model to make a name for himself or even be discovered. Although people can say tyra naomi, emon, or tyson have made it thats about all the blacks that have really made a name for themselves in this industry. why is it that onli ppl of lighter skin not only whites but brazilians or any other race be excepted so easily over a darker toned person people must wonder and all diddy was really tring to do was help strugling black male models make something of themselves. lots of the blk men in the fashion show were great looking guys and had great body and facial features but yet i dont see them on GQ's top 50 male models list all I see are ppl of a lighter color and thats the point
Chris says:
This isn't racism at all! Diddy did this in response to the fact that there is still only a small percentage of BLACK models that are allowed to work in high fashion markets!!. Watch any "HIGH FASHION" fashion show and see how many black/African-Americans you see. You would think that issues such as Race would have subsided in any market, but surprisingly this issue has once again become a problem in the fashion industry. People have labeled it as "The Fashion Blackout!" Let's just be real.. The Fashion industry is still rather "selective" when it comes to choosing models. I commend Diddy for what he did and I think that everyone in the fashion industry understood the statement that he was making!
LILIE MAE says:
GET REALL EVRY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG he is just showing that negroes can be pretty too... although we are prettier than blacks he is trying to show that all black men are gay and gorgeous... I bet every negro man up there was gay....
