I wear fur and suede and leather. Always have ALWAYS will. When you idiotic "fur is dead" types stop killing animals to EAT them and you stop sitting on leather seats in cars etc.THEN you can make a better arguement. If a mink ever got in your home you'd beat the vicious thing with a broom not cuddle it and say "no no sweet little creature go back outside." A few years go some PETA freak threw paint on my fur jacket and I just bought a replacement one the same day. So I guess PETA is responsible for all the dead animals it took for a coat I would never have bought. Doing something, anything is better than doing nothing, isn't it? We can call everyone out here hypocrites or we can pat them on the back for at least doing something. No one on the planet needs to wear a fur. All too often, furriers are the biggest torturers and batterers of animals. That's different than humane farming practices. My opinion I guess. When it comes to using animals for entertainment or fashion, I put my foot down.

Calling someone who is anti-fur and who also eats the occasional steak a hypocrite is weird. There really are degrees of grey in every moral standpoint. I'm a vegan who owns a few pairs of leather shoes, and eats eggs every few months - and those allowances have let me stay on a vegan path for 6 years. Doing something is NOT the same as doing nothing. Doing *something* is more important than being completely 100% vegan, because then you can be a moderate model for others to follow. My family will never be vegan, but they've made more veggie and better ecological choices since I've gone vegan, and that's good enough for me. The more people making small changes the better. The less people wearing fur coats mean less animals have to suffer - and by sheer numbers, that matters.

To use another's skin for warmth is just plain wrong! Just because using animals for food and clothing has been the way, it doesn't make it right now. We have plenty of other means for clothing and I'm sure a few of us on this board could stand to improve our health... meat is in NO way helping our culture with obesity and poor health. As a fashion designer, I have no problem with fur; as long as it's not from an endangered species, the animal was treated humanely during it's lifetime, and the kill was as painless as possible.

If I design something with fur, I don't force anyone to buy it if they have a problem with it. However, I do resent some card carrying PETA harassing people in from of a store that does sell fur items. Those are 'stand over' tactics; plain and simple.

The people who are commenting saying fur is bad are all people pumped with PETAs staged videos. I have been to a few fur farms and rarely are they how they are shown in the PETA vids. Wearing Fur is personal. I only wear vintage fur, but whos business is it other than my own. Fur is back!

If you have ever bothered to see exactly how fur is obtained, you would never wear fur in a million years. Please keep in mind that most of our fur comes from China where there are no animal welfare laws. The fur trade in China is gaining ground and there is no way it will stop if we continue to buy fur.
See for yourself how dogs/cats/raccoons/foxes etc. get skinned alive for the fur trade but beware, it is very upsetting - and this is just one example of the barbarism of the fur trade.
