Just for you all to know, she is extremely talented, and goes by her own bell. She may be quite stubborn but to question her talent...I disagree. I think it is extremely interesting however very predictable for every reality show to have at least one person the people want to target and as she may not look like every other cookie cutter girl on stage she definetely has an edge. I would think it's safe to bet your life will go on without criticizing and pointing out things that you may not agree with just to make yourself feel more accepted in life!

Why is it when someone sings like Frank Sinatra or has his style such as Harry Connick Jr.they are considered talented but if they sound like Janis they are a poser wannabe. I am just posting this to say that it is one thing to say that you don't like Amanda as a singer... that she is a poser (as a singer), etc, it is ok to have your opinion and that is exactly why America is allowed to vote in the first place. If you don't like her as a singer, don't vote for her. Obviously some people like her because she is still there. I can understand why some would frown upon her for her DUI arrest, but honestly is it really fair to bash her own professional too? I mean I am an LPN and I just want to say that it is called LPN for a reason: Licensed Practical nurse...it is a nurse (it is in the name), there are two types of nurses LPN and RN. RN has more responsibilities than an LPN. I give injections, I administer medications (calculate drug doses, etc, etc). I give people injections, does that not entitle me to call myself a nurse? If Amanda were a bartender you would all probably start saying "oh go figures," but she is not that. And just to get this straight...look at all those people out there who do no school, who work as waitresses, bartenders, or just have some run of the mill office job. None of these jobs even compare to being an LPN, there is no comparison! And on top of that, even though the LPN course is a full year, it is 7-8 hours a day, five days of week in school and then another 3-4 hours of homework every day when you get home. Then comes getting 90% on pharmacology exams...yeah 90% or you have to take that class over again, does that sound easy to you...so many people fail pharm. the first time and even second time around because of this and have to take it over and over again, so yes these are nurses! The problem with so many people is that they so damn ignorant. Oh and by the way before you go bashing an LPN for only having one year of school...think about how many hours they put in in that year...and I bet you probably didn't stop to think about whether they had any additional schooling. I have a degree in business as well, in accounting (you can never judge a book by its cover). This may come across as harsh sounding but that is not what is intended...people just really need to think before they speak. I bet some of you are RN's who might be making these posts...which makes sense (because RN's are always bashing LPN's)..but I bet there are also some of you that are working down the street at walmart (which is perfectly acceptable in my book as long as you are not bashing LPN's or any other profession). Also, just to let you know...Amanda is not even my favorite singer on the show, she will probably get the boot, but you know what...I can still stick up for the girl even if she is not perfect..just like the rest of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I say give Amanda a chance. She's definitely her own person. I admire her for not being like all the others. In todays world a girl's gotta be her own person. I am no judge of musical talent.

Look, I don't much like her singing (not because she does or doesn't have talent but because it's not my style) but I take offence at you saying that LPN's aren't real nurses - I work with them every day and while there are limitations to their practice, that doesn't mean they're not real nurses. Unless you know what you're talking about shut up. You sound like an idiot.

I am an LPN and anyone who has ever been admitted to a hospital has certainly delt with one! Nurses (RNs and LPNs alike) are the ones saving your asses from the dr's killing you! HELLOOO! You shouldn't bash people based on a title. There are different (FINANCIAL) reasons people prefer the LPN program vs. RN. And by the way, I make more and have more responsibility than most RNs being an acute DIALYSIS nurse! People having nothing to do with nursing are always the ones running off at the mouth about it.

RN or LPN we are all nurses and have a similar goal: we care for our patients and want what is best for them.

Amanda can sing, if not the best or the best song choice she won't win. Who gives a damn about her other attributes, it's her history. I hear alot of judgement here, how about I come to your house look in your closet, video in your bathroo,check out your high school, perhaps we can find something on you...then we can judge you for who you are rather than how you sing.

Hey to all you jealous RN.S and to the people making retarded posts on here about L.P.N'S not being nurses. firstly, grow up and stop being so high on yourselves. secondly, Get an education! Licensed Practical Nurses ARE NOT being phased out in Canada nor in most states in the U.S. ( with the exception of Texas, where L.P.N.S work primarily in extended care) In Canada we have longer education then one year in most provinces and the provinces that are currently one year, will be increased to a longer program shortly, while the B.S.N. ( that's dgree R.N.) is going to be DECREASED to 3 years. I don't know what the frame of reference is for some of the stupid posters on here but unless you have walked in my shoes and had my training and been responsible for the things I have been at work, shut-up because I'm afraid you really don't know what you are talking about and come across as very arrogant and snobby. perhaps you only have knowledge of L.P.N.S in a low functioning capacity at thier jobs. news flash -I have seen low and high functioning L.P.N.S and R.N.S We L.P.N.S are now trained in critical thinking skills. Which traditionally has been the dividing line between R.N.s and L.P.N.S. We do many nursing skills and actually have brains and use them! We have the education to know signs and symptoms of diseases etc. and what medication we are giving and why we are giving it, the action of the drug the chemical properties etc. and to much more to mention here. We have knowledge in Biology, pathophisiology and chemistry. We do much more and have so much more education that it is too much to mention here. Our job skills overlap in many areas with the R.N. The L.P.N. courses in Canada are extremely intense and demanding and the government of some provinces recently changed the health act to increase our education and skills, so we all had to go back to school and have more training, we have inservices at our job sites where we are constantly learning new information so like the R.N. we are lifelong learners. The L.P.N. programs in Canada are very intense and demanding. I know from friends who have taken the nclexLPN in the US, that it is even harder than our national exam! so before you go spouting your mouthes off, GET YOUR FACTS FIRST! Because your frame of reference is clearly limited as to what an L.P.N. does And don't cut down anybody's job, the garbage collector, the local fast food worker etc. Have a great day and be kind to everybody.

Amanda is a CERTIFIED RESPIRATORY THERAPIST. She is intelligent and has an amazing voice. What stands out the most is her positive attitude. Check out YouTube and see how she sang on Regis and Kelly yesterday. Why do people have to be so hateful?

i think it is ubsurd talking about how amanda had a dui over two years ago it wont affect her role in idol even though she got voted off and how talking how bad of singer she is and that she is not very good looking. i know this is the writers oppinion but very unprofessional. amanda was a good singer she did need to widened her genre though at least she didnt turn 8 days a week into a country version.

I'm an LPN an can tell you this,after 13 yrs as a LPN i do a hell of alot more than give injections..I have more than once kept a MSN nurse from making a mistake that would have cost her licensure,OH an by tha way Amanda sings her ass off...she may have been voted off but I'd still go see her sing.ROCK ON AMANDA

To the LPN's who have posted previously or are reading currently - its time to calm the hell down. The majority of RN's out there have nothing but respect for you but to be honest, I find it infuriating when you guys try to make out how you're better than them i.e you save their asses, you could run rings around them etc. Why is it so hard for you to actually acknowledge that they have more responsibility, and more knowledge (two year vs four year). Why the hell do you always see the need to try and take them down? Yes, yes I've read many LPN's are bashed by RN's but it goes both ways, clearly. I'm tired of reading posts by LPN's who claim RN's are jealous of them, that they get more pay and do the same job? I dont think so - personally, I have never been jealous of an LPN, nor of their salary and yes, while duties may overlap in some setting the fact remains that a RN's knowledge is far greater (pharmacology, A&P, nursing skills (handling drains, various lines etc). I mean, RN's may work in LTC but these same RN's could also work in ICU or the ED whereas an LPN scope of practice may not allow them to do so (depending on the state, their added certificates). The fact of the matter is while I totally agree that an LPN is a nurse, there are huge differences in both. LPN's may claim they can run rings around, say, a new RN grad but when compared to a RN with the same length of experience? I don't think so. True - not all RN's are great nurses and may subject to human error but so too are LPN's so I think its time to lay off. Bottom line is, LPN's are good
nurses but if you can't handle the fact that you're not the equivalent to an RN then maybe you should either move on or go back to university for the added 2 or years to get the degree. RN's work damn hard (I'm personally going into the fourth year of my nursing degree) and won't be told by anybody that someone who studied for one, two or even three years less that they are either entitled to the same responsibilities or pay.

As for Amanda? She was okay, not my favourite especially since she was stupid enough to risk not only her life but someone else's. Idiot.
