Check it out, Elle Woods made it to the U.N.! Just kidding, this is real-life Reese Witherspoon lending her celebrity to the cause of preventing violence against women. The A-list actress helped to launch a one-million-dollar campaign, funded by Avon products with profits to be donated to the U.N. Development Fun for Women.
Three dollar bracelets will be sold as symbols of support for their cause at three dollars a pop. The first 500,000 dollars sold will be matched by Avon Products, bringing the donation to a total of one million dollars. Reese said at a press conference for the campaign's launch at U.N. headquarters, "I am proud to be a part of this summit and I support Avon and UNIFEM wholeheartedly in their efforts to put an end to this global epidemic." And I support her choice to support this cause through fashion.
