In his Village Voice column, the fantastic Michael Musto pokes fun at Lindsay Lohan's nude homage to Marilyn Monroe by posing for a few shots of his own. My favorite is probably the one where he's got that fishnet on his head. In his column, he points out how obvious and uninspired the choice of having Marilyn Monroe as a figure to emulate is for an young, doe-eyed starlet.
According to Musto, "A blonde actress's love of Marilyn has got to be the biggest Hollywood cliché since cute reaction shots of dogs. These girls never claim an affinity for anyone esoteric, like Barbara Payton, Carrie Nye, or Tippi Hedren." He probably says it best when he said, "They go for the obvious--and for the obvious reason: Marilyn was sex on a stick and knew how to promote that to sell product."
