David Beckham is wearing these enormous sunglasses because his future is just so damn bright. He's coming up on a pretty big milestone in his soccer/spokesmodel career--he is preparing to make his 100th public appearance playing for England's national team. Beckham, who currently plays for the L.A. Galaxy, was selected by the manager of England's team, Fabio Cappello, to play in a friendly match against France.
And of course, any success of his on the field translates to more money in his pocket off the green, especially in Europe. Sports management group G2 rep says of Beckham's upcoming match, "If he gets picked for England, that will boost his marketing appeal immensely." Because really, if the most important part of professional sports isn't about selling shit, then I don't know what is.
