Seal made a big revelation at last week's Lupus L.A. Orange Ball in Beverly Hills. This is the same event where Paula Abdul joked about her drunk ass antics on last week's Idol. Besides performing, Seal revealed that he has lupus himself.
"You've all shown your generosity and your support, and as a 20-or-so-odd-year sufferer myself, I feel really fortunate to be in the position to contribute," Seal said.
Sean performed four songs. The Lupus Research Institute announced it had established a grant in Seal's name that will go to lupus-related initiatives. Show your man some love, Heidi Klum, that's a rough thing to deal with!

Lupus is no joke and a very serious disease. The pain management aspect of it alone is heartwrenching - I lost a college roommate to lupus and it still hurts to think about how much pain she went through before passing away. It's very courgageous of him to divulge his personal medical information and I hope it gives hope to those suffering from it.

I *think* that was the first time Seal has publicly said he has lupus. But yeah, we all knew already, his facial scarring is very distinctive to sufferers of discoid lupus.

no as a music teacher I did not know Seal had lupus...I thought it was from an African right of passage. Now that I have lupus, I as loss my hair once and it grew back...and now it is coming out again..I want help..kids at school are mean..I don't want to be the called the ball-headed music teacher again

Movie Producer Lauren Shuler Donner and Grammy Award-Winning Artist Seal Receive Special Honors
Tuesday, May 6th, 2007 (Beverly Hills, CA) – Lupus LA’s 2008 Orange Ball brought out a bevy of stars last Thursday in an effort to spread awareness and raise much-needed funds for the fight against lupus. Event hosts Bruno Tonioli and Terri Seymour led the evening which honored famed Hollywood producer Lauren Shuler Donner and her husband, director Richard Donner. Dakota Fanning and Paula Abdul also made appearances to show their support as two of the evening’s special guests while Andrea Fiuczynski led a live auction to raise funds for the foundation.

After an amazing four song set of some of his most famous songs, Seal was presented with a medical grant in his name from the Lupus Research Institute. The medical grant, one of many that will be given out this year, was for $300,000.
Dedicated to supporting innovative science in lupus, Lupus LA uses the power of Hollywood and the strength of its committee to fulfill the mission of the organization. The 2008 Orange Ball fundraising event proved a huge success with over $800,000 raised.
Celebrities and VIP’s in attendance included Alli Hillis, Bruno Tonioli, Dakota Fanning, Dr. Daniel J. Wallace, Jeremy Renner, Justin Torkildsen, Kate Flannery, Kellie Martin, Kelly Hu, Lauren Shuler Donner, Lisa Gastineau, Mercedes Yvette, Parminder Nagra, Paula Abdul, Phill Lewis, Seal, Stacy Keibler, Terri Seymour, and Whitney Port among many others.
THE HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED:
* A rousing live auction led by Christie’s auctioneer Andrea Fiuczynski. Among the items were two tickets to the American Idol finale, a lavish trip to Las Vegas, a NASCAR experience, sports package involving the LA Galaxy soccer team and more. The auction helped raise $44,000.
* Paula Abdul helping to auction off the American Idol package by jumping on stage and adding perks to the highest bidder. To raise bid prices she added offers to get personally insulted by Simon, photos backstage, a chance to sit in her seat on the Idol set, and an offer to dance at the winner’s bar mitzvah or private party. The winning bid was a whopping $16,000!
