David Archuleta is no sore loser. He's overjoyed and proud of David Cook and loves his Dad who is in no way a maniac and loves ice cream and baseball and loves to sing and yadda yadda yadda happiness! You're 17, you lost big. You should be throwing your bat into the dugout and kicking dirt on the umpire. That would be Simon Cowell.
"Oh, I was pretty sure Cook was going to win anyway!" Archuleta says. "You know, he's such a great guy. I'm so glad that people really appreciate what he'd been doing because he put a lot of work into this.
This kid probably bites his nails and screams into pillows. Someday he's going to snap and drive his car into a Rite Aid if he doesn't express some anger and disappointment.
Archuleta's father Jeff has become known for his ferocious stage dad manuevers, and was even reportedly banned from the backstage at Idol for his crazy antics. Lil' David, perhaps suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, says his dad has only ever wanted the best for him.
"My dad just let me know he's so proud of me," he said. "He's really happy too. He was just always there to remind me what music meant, the real depth to music and what it does to reach people's lives," he added. "And my whole family has helped me stay who I am, helped me not change through this."
David gave this interview by cell phone from a Greyhound bus speeding towards an unknown destination. American Idol producers have supplied him with a fake id, and sped him on his way to a new life where his father will no longer make him practice singing by spurring him on with a cattle prod.

I've read that people compare Jeff Archuleta to Joe Simpson. In my humble opinion, it appears that Jeff is genuinely interested in his son being as successfull as possible as an artist. (although a bit overexuberantly) It appears, to me, that Joe Simpson is overexuberantly interested in making money. Just my two cents.
