Rapper Xzibit (real name Alvin Nathaniel Joiner) announced the death of his prematurely born son Xavier Kingston Joiner on his MySpace blog early yesterday morning. Xzibit had announced Xavier's premature birth on May 15.
Xzibit stated that Xavier's lungs weren't strong enough to handle regular oxygen.
"I am telling you this because of the same reason I tell you when I'm having great times, life is too short to be fake. Hold on to your kids if you have them, protect them and show them you love them everyday you wake up and see them, dont take a second you get to hug them teach them and care for them for granted. You can have all the material wealth in the universe but it is NOTHING compared to having your family," he wrote.

My sympathies go out to Xzibit and his family. I had the pleasure of meeting him at Coachella a few years back and he was down to earth and cordial and didn't have the slightest air of fakeness about him at all. He's a super-nice, funny guy and that's why his fans love him so much. I feel terribly for him but and admire his strength at such a difficult time in his life.
