Sorry to be frank, but she did just totally sell out her Grey's Anatomy
writers. And without writers, you would be reduced to dialouge like "I
am Izzie, and I am the doctor around here. How may I service you?" Read
that in a stilted Katherine Heigl voice out loud to get the full
effect. Shit, I should totally write for that show.
"I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention," Heigl said when asked why she was withdrawing her name from Emmy consideration.

She's her own person with her own thoughts. I kinda like that about her. I used to watch that show and think, wow, they don't pay much attention to that Izzie character, but they should because she's one of the best actors on the show. Then all of a sudden she hits rocket fame and they're giving her all this glory now??? I don't blame her for saying what she said. They didn't pay attention to her at all in the beginning, but now that they need viewership for the Emmy show, so they throw her name out there. Well, she's not biting. Good for her.

Granted, the plotline did suck this season but she sure does like biting the hands that feed her, like whiney little adolescent child. She is far from the best actress on the show (Sandrah Oh and Ellen Pompeo have that in the bag) and Izzy is probably the most annoying character they have.
The most undeveloped character they have is Alex but you don't hear the complaining over there. The most bashed character is Meredith, followed closely by Callie, but ulp, no bitching.
Plus, HELLO it's called Grey's Anatomy, not Izzy Steven's anatomy, the show is not about her!
All I have to say is, if she has an issue with her material, she takes it up with the producers like she has some damn class.

Have you people actually watched the show this season? It sucked. Story lines were so ridiculous, and over blown. I know the writer's strike had something to do with it, but Heigl is right. Her character is annoying because that's how they've written her. They've had four seasons to develop all of these characters, and they really have not. It just been 4 years of whining, bitching, moaning, breaking up, killing patients, and way to many musical montages.

I don't watch that show, or pay attention to Katherine Heigl. So from an outsiders perspective the comment comes off snobby and rude. What makes her think she would even be nominated. Sounds like someone is mad they didn't get enough screen time! boo hoo.

From what I've read, the show worked around her busy "movie star" schedule so she could do both tv and films while shooting Grey's last season. So basically she requested to have more time off from Grey's...and then she can't understand why she had a diminished role?!? Plus, the "supporting actress" award is given for acting, not writing, so if anything's to blame for her lackluster season it's her not making the best out of a bad situation (b/c she is correct that the writing kinda sucked this year).
But biting the hand that feeds her has become a KH trademark. Hopefully it will come back and bite her in the ass.

Hey -- Hollywood stomps all over pretty girls like Katherine Heigl. They only pay a lick of attention to their work when they see dollar signs floating in the air. She's smart enough to know this and she's making a statement right back to them. She's saying she doesn't think the writing was in any way Emmy-worthy and she knows they are just using her name for viewership and publicity. Again, good for her. She's not selling her soul like everyone else. It might bite her in the A$$ in the future, but it seems she's not afraid of that, and I, for one, admire fearless people.
Whoever says:
Okay, but obviously she is selling her soul because if she felt so strongly about "Knocked Up," she would have rejected the script when she first read it. But hey, she's trying to get paid like everyone else.
So what does that make her? Average.
