Crotchety bitch actress Katherine Heigl was the recipient of an open letter on New York magazine's website penned by TV writer Emma Rosenbaum. Heigl's recent withdrawal from the Emmy nomination process because of her claims that she didn't have good enough material from the Grey's Anatomy writers this year prompted Rosenbaum to school that heifer.

Rosenbaum's theory was that Heigl's character of Izzie received little attention this season because the writers are incorporating aspects of Heigl's stank personality into her character.

"Have you ever thought that maybe the writers are incorporating your own personality into that of your character? Because we read a lot of women's magazine and gossip sites, and we think we kind of know you at this point. And guess what? You're totally annoying and self-righteous, just like Izzie!" Rosenbaum writes.

Heigl's past obnoxious behavior is also brought up, including the incident in which she called her breakthrough film hit Knocked Up "a little sexist."

"But you were Apatow's first choice for that movie, you did it, you made lots of money, and it made you a certified movie star. What possessed you to bash it? Do you think you're above the work that you do? It was a comedy, and you profited tremendously."

This Rosenbaum chick needs to come write for us. She tells it like it is!

Heigl's recent dismissal of the Grey's Anatomy writing staff was termed "an ungrateful slap in the face," by an insider. This is especially true seeing as that she won the Emmy last year. Maybe Katherine should start writing her own material, and do some sort of one woman show.  We'll see how well that does.

It's interesting how women are so quick to tell other women to shut up. Katherine Heigl has her opinions and voices them. There's nothing wrong with her saying Knocked Up was sexist - it's told from a man's point of view. Sex and the City is sexist too from the woman's point of view. And the material from Grey's Anatomy sucked last year taking her strong character and supportive friend and turning her into a bimbo who tramples all over another woman's marriage. Apparently in Hollywood (and everywhere else for that matter) women should Just be pretty and shut up.

Katherine Heigl was AWFUL in Knocked Up. Anyone could have done that role & done it better than her, she played it flat & one sided and she was NOT Apatow's first choice, Anne Hathaway was but Anne turned it down because she thought the crowning of the baby scene was unnecessary to tell the story... When Anne's interviews came out saying that, it made look Katherine looked desperate that she was second choice so she dealt w/ it by bashing the entire premise of the movie!!! She is an ugly primadonna & should be counting her lucky stars that she's gotten this many roles!!

um, geebee, it wasn't just another woman telling her to shut up. that's been the general reaction of anybody who read what she said about what was written for her character.

to add, I don't think it had to do with the fact that Rosenbaum is a woman, more that she's a writer.

Her comments made it seem that she didn't appreciate the show's writers (which wasn't a problem last year). Since she's part of a ensemble and the show's not called Izzy's Anatomy maybe she can can give Shonda a call and have a conversation with her instead of going public.Keeping in mind there was a strike & a lot of shows sucked!!

I don't see what all the fuss is about. Knocked Up WAS sexist and portrayed the women and men just as Heigl described it. So what? Sean William Scott has said repeatedly a couple of his movies sucked royally and no one gives a crap. Jennifer Garner has publicly acknowledged that the Daredevil sequel was lame (and it was). If she wants to pull out of the running for an award, who the hell cares?? I like it went actors are honest. It's better than hearing a bunch of BS.

The interesting thing is that all these people label things as sexist, but have no idea what the word means because it lost any meaning in the 90s. The mainstream media labeled everything as sexist. These people are the puppets that that now failing media preyed upon. Heigl is a product of the 90s so she is completely clueless anyway.

As an example of the word 'sexist' meaning absolutely nothing just look at the comments of 'geebee'. A movie is sexist because it is told from a man's point of view or a woman's point of view. Then everything anybody says is sexist and racist and individualist because everything said comes from one person's point of view. Some people call this freedom of speech. The exchange of ideas is a good thing, trust me.

The word sexist is supposed to mean a person that believes one gender is superior to the other. It doesn't mean telling your point of view.

JJ tells the truth. The movie wasn't sexiest it was a comedy from a mans point of view. The difference with the daredevil sequal was that movie didn't make her an A-list celebrity, Knocked up made her movie career, so then she bashes it? If it was that bad why even do it? oh thats right to take their money and then tell them they are sexiest. I lost all respect for her when she said that about knocked up.

Katherine Heigl is hot. That is absolutely interesting show~~ I enjoyed it! A hot debate is taking place at Richromances.com now among hollywood writers and celebrities'
fans. Many guys said they were super-excited about it~

I can see the point if you took yourself out of the running b/c you honestly didn't think you deserved it for the work you did. But making a comment about it was unecessary. It was insulting to the writers and if it wasn't for Grey's I doubt she would've gotten the lead for Knocked Up. I think that Rosenbaum was right to tell Kathy to shut up. Someone needed to. Now if someone can just put Kanye West in his place please!

Curiously, there is no "Emma Rosenbaum" listed at imdb in the writing (or any other) credits of Grey's Anatomy... or on any other show for that matter. Not one. So who exactly is this chick, to open her yap and criticize? (since she apparently has never had a job?)
Isn't New York Magazine the rag that ran Lohan's dried up coke-whore nudes, supposedly in tribute to Marilyn? What a class act they are!
More to the point, while writing has made many a show a hit, it's killed far more, even well established shows, than a legion of actors ever could. If a show jumps the shark, it's almost always because the writing starts to stink.

"jd" - I believe the writer's name is Emma Rosenblum and she has definitely had a significant writing career - one of my favorites on nymag!

emma is a whore.

Knocked Up isn't NEARLY as sexist as some try and make it. katherine's complaint was that the guys had all the fun and the girls come off like wenches. but she ignores the fact that though the lead guys are carefree & lovable, they're really losers with no ambition who can't get their sh!t together without the help of a woman. She's conveniently ignoring that so she can sound like a feminist.

i HATE pseudo-feminists. it's embarrassing to the rest of us.
