Rapper 50 Cent is very angry at Taco Bell's offer to have him appear in a campaign for the fast food Mexican chain, and is now threatening legal action.
The company offered to make a $10,000 donation to a charity of 50's choice if he agreed to change his name for one day. He would also be required to stop by a Taco Bell and rap his order using a new name -- either 79 cent, 89 cent or 99 cent like their new value menu.
A representative says, "This is a sleazy and ill-conceived publicity stunt by Taco Bell's president, Greg Creed, whose disingenuous offer was leaked to the press before it was even presented to 50 Cent's agent yesterday."
50 Cent said, "When my legal team is finished with them, Taco Bell is going to have a new corporate slogan: 'We messed with the bull and got the horns!'"
What I don't understand is why he is suing? They made an offer, and he refused. Is that illegal? Of course I haven't had to deal with the law nearly as much as 50 Cent. He might be an expert on the subject.

I think Taco Bell did it in a childish disrespectful way. Asking someone to change their name in a very trivial manner and to order at the window for a picture for only 10,000. Give me a fucking break. I think 50s point is more about how the President of Taco Bell went about it. In all honesty I think It was a really selfish thing to do to deny it. They're offering to donate money to whatever charity he chose. He obviously wants the money to himself otherwise I bet he would have done it, and besides we all know his real name isn't "50 cent" so he can get the fuck over it. He's suing because they used his name for publicity BEFORE they made the formal offer (which is a no-no without his say so). They only made the offer to cover their ass. They never had any intention of actually making a deal, they just wanted the publicity. You can tell it's not a legit offer because it's only $10000...even given to charity this is a bullshit offer.

50 is a multinational corporation in his own right, and I am sure his legal team is just as good as taco bells. The concern is the negative publicity he will receive for not doing it after they leak the fact that they were going to donate to charity.
BTW, if they do get someone to spoof him on a commercial he will have a legitimate lawsuit then.
