Looks like Ellen DeGeneres finally found the perfect engagement ring to give to her longtime love Portia de Rossi. The sparkling ring was made with a marquis cut diamond set with pink diamonds and made by jewelry designer Neil Lane. Both ladies were happy to show it off at the Daytime Emmys where Ellen reigned victorious.

The date for their upcoming wedding has not been announced, but Ellen said that the date has been set. She has been referring to it as "the dream wedding," and has only revealed that "incredible people" would be performing. During an interview on her show Ellen asked Justin Timberlake to sing and perform during the ceremony.

Ellen doesn't seem too be suffering from any pre-wedding anxiety either.

"I can't wait to be married. I feel like it is long overdue," she said. "And I think someday people will look back on this like women not having the right to vote and segregation and anything else that seems ridiculous like we all don't have the same rights."

Marrying the same sex is just too weird. Even if you aren't religious about it, it still makes no sense. Why are we made the way we are? To have children - to further the species of mankind. Gays and lesbians can adopt all the children they want, it's still not their actual child. If they want children, they still need a man/woman combo in there somewhere in order to procreate. It's nature!

When a man can actually give birth or a woman can impregnate another woman NATURALLY, then maybe I will change my mind. Until then, it all just goes against God, Mother Nature, laws of physics, etc!! Surely people realize this!!

I'm not religious either, but it just goes against nature.

Hmm, I wonder if people love each other and make decisions beyond basic procreation. Just a thought.

I'm very happy for them and hope everything goes great. This must be an exciting, surreal time for them.

I saw some new privacy news in site ’’W e a l t h y L o v I n g .c o m’’. Maybe it will have heavy influence on us. Just care.

June 23, 2008 6:40 PM

I absolutely adore Ellen and am so happy for her! Who cares about procreation? Not everybody gets married to have children.

She has struggled enough. I wish her the very best...

June 23, 2008 6:44 PM

Although I have to add it's scary that the religious nuts are "procreating" tens of children while open minded people don't.

Just a thought...

Gee "me" You find it strange that they want children and can do it through impregnating one of them with a sperm donor, which is pretty dam natural with the help of science of course. Yet you then go on to say that when a man can have a baby then you would be ok with it??? Now that's not natural dude. You also say it's not about religion, then go on to say it's against God?? Two people who love each other is all that matters, how the decide to have children is entirely up to them and who gives a shit what other people think. How many heterosexual couples do you know that are happy, and live full lives with complete love and respect for each other? Not many. So your problem is with gay people, quit dancing around stuff.

June 23, 2008 7:53 PM

Hey "me":

Are you serious? How about you having been born gay, fell in love and wanted the same rights as everyone else? How about that?

Keep your closed-mindedness anonymous...I hope you wouldn't share those ideas out in public.

Oh, and btw, don't move to NYC, we don't take well to bullshit.

June 23, 2008 9:56 PM

Fight to end poverty. Fight to end hunger. Fight to end disease. Fight to end abuse and injustice and violence.

Don't fight to end happiness. Don't fight against love.

i think it is great that they are getting married but I am confused about the traditional male / female role that I am interpreting...Only Portia gets the ring right?

June 24, 2008 4:17 AM

Mr./Ms. Thought:

I think I love you!

Very well said.

June 24, 2008 5:08 AM

What I am wondering after the wedding will Portia be known as Portia de Rossi-DeGeneres
and what will it mean in Italian and French?

Quizz time get cracking!

June 24, 2008 6:23 AM

to "me":

no, not everyone gets married in order to procreate. (some people, and I know this is a shocker for uptight closed minded people like yourself, actually get married because THEY LOVE EACH OTHER.)

if they choose to adopt, I'd say that the children are their own children. and I'd be careful about saying something like that...any adoptive child might "correct" you, and not so gently. Children who are adopted are JUST AS LOVED as bio kids, and are legitimate members of a family, just like bio kids. for you to imply differently is pretty damn ignorant, and not very compassionate of you.

And, by the way, there are same-sex "couples" in many animal species around the world. so, it doesn't REALLY "go against nature", considering several species in nature do the same thing.

it may make no sense to you but, frankly, it doesn't have to. It makes sense to Ellen and Portia, and if they're happy, that's what matters.

to karl: you bring up an interesting point. "How many heterosexual couples do you know that are happy, and live full lives with complete love and respect for each other? Not many." Gay marriage isn't the biggest threat to the institution of marriage. DIVORCE is the biggest threat. Why not outlaw that?! How many hetero people (Pamela Anderson comes to mind) have made a mockery out of marriage? It's not the gays, it's us "straights" who are ruining it! And the people in Congress who fight against the legalization? how many of them have been divorced, had affairs, or even had children with their mistresses? And they have the balls to say that gay marriage is the biggest threat?

June 24, 2008 7:46 AM

I'm not so sure that divorce should be outlawed-I would have shriveled up by now had I not gotten out of a really bad 10 year marriage. I would rather see bigots outlawed...Its the people like "Me" that create a problem where there is none.

This "issue" is only an issue because some people feel it isn't "right." To those people I say: then don't do it, but don't tell other people THEY can't do it because YOU don't think its right...

June 24, 2008 8:32 AM

I was just exaggerating to make a point, Zekers...

while I don't really believe that divorce should be outlawed, I was just trying to demonstrate how the true "biggest threat" to marriage is divorce, and yet some of the most vocal opponents to gay marriage are multiple-divorcees. or philanderers. or closet cases.

sometimes a marriage just doesn't work out, I understand that. or one partner is abusive. Totally legitimate reasons to get a divorce.

But for someone to claim that two people in love, who just happen to be of the same sex, are the biggest threat to marriage is just ridiculous.

and I agree with you...if you're against it, don't do it. what people do in their sex lives is their business. (as long as children or animals aren't being abused...)

June 24, 2008 9:41 AM

Oh, I know, Say What? I was just being a drama queen : )

I am so fed up with people trying to control the world to make it the RIGHT way...THEIR way. The ex-in-laws were from the Bible Belt and they were constantly damning anyone and everyone who didn't see life their way. They were very unhappy people...

You know Say What?, the more I read your comments, the more I like you...

June 24, 2008 10:09 AM

everyone's entitled to be a drama queen once in while!

backatcha on all fronts.

June 24, 2008 1:06 PM

i want to express my pity for 'me', but it's already been done so well here. thanks much Zekers, thought, anti-me, Karl, saywhat? and others -- you guys just about covered what i was about to say.

ellen says it very well: "And I think someday people will look back on this like women not having the right to vote and segregation and anything else that seems ridiculous like we all don't have the same rights."

and i am waiting on that day. and when it comes, i might just go marry someone of the same sex JUST BECAUSE I CAN.

(which unfortunately would mean i'd have to divorce my husband, which he won't like, but could be somewhat mitigated by the fact that i was leaving him to marry a woman. it's worth considering.)

June 25, 2008 3:02 AM

Lola you say it goes against nature, then why
are there over 400 animal species that are
either bi or homosexual?

omg "thought" i couldnt have said it better myself..if there not sleeping with you then YOU shouldnt be worried about it!!1 its about time we see a truly happy couple!!! cheers to ellen and portia and jeers to "me"!!
