As if the threat of Amy Winehouse showing up high, wig aflame and covered in rodents weren't enough to scare the organizers of Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday concert
into shutting down the production, now the event is scheduled to be
picketed by demonstrators against Robert Mugabe's rule in Zimbabwe.
The protestors are asking for Mandela to take a stand and include a group of human rights activists as well as refugees who have fled from the African nation. Sudanese rapper Emmanuel Jal is participating in the concert and told The Times in London, "If Nelson went to talk to him, it would make a difference."
On a lighter note, to get everyone's spirits up at the dinner held in honor of Mandela, Oprah showed up in a fetching Old West schoolmarm's ensemble and did a fan dance to entertain all the red carpet arrivals. Also, I love that a Pussycat Doll was at the same dinner. Gee, I wonder if her crotchless leather business suit was at the cleaners...
