Charo's spiritual descendant Shakira is reportedly close to inking a deal with concert promoter Live Nation to handle all her touring, merchandising and recording.
This is the same sort of deal that Madonna recently made for a lot of money. Like, more money than you've ever seen. Madonna could probably buy your soul from whatever deity it is that you worship. That's how much money that bony vulture made.
Shakira's deal wouldn't be as much - maybe around $70 million. I don't recall her having many hits but apparently she does really well when it comes to touring. Her last tour, for Oral Fixation last year, grossed around $100 million.
The deal will be signed before the end of the year, according to sources.
I'm not sure how this racket works. Live Nation recently lost the chairguy who has been in charge of these recent "360" deals with artists, and there's going to be layoffs. Hi, I lost my job because they had to make sure Shakira was able to afford a spaceship.
