With the BEST OPENING WEEKEND EVER, The Dark Night
featuring Christian Bale facing off with the late Heath Ledger opened
in London for the European premiere and was attended by the cast of the
movie, along with some random British celebs I don't recognize.
I do recognize Kelly Osbourne and even though her look is often a bit too severe for my taste, I think she looks quite nice in her body-hugging short dress. Maybe it's the hint of a tan that softens it just enough for me. There's that chick Peaches Geldof I'm always seeing mentioned in The Daily Mail, but I can't bring myself to Google. And yeah, well, that's about it.
Unless they're wasted out of their minds, attacking people or heaving around giant fake breasts, my knowledge of the British people as a whole is quite cursory. It's hard enough, keeping track of the weirdos and whackjobs from my native land.

I completely agree with you on knowledge of the British. The biggest thing with them and other European countries I have never understood is nobility. Why is the royal family such a big deal? They didn't do anything to be who they are, they were born into that position. Bush may not be the greatest president, but at least he was elected to that position, not chosen by birth or nobility.

The Royal Family doesn't wield political power like the Prime Minister. So saying that Bush was elected, yes, that's true.. .America chose it's current idiot. But the Royals in England were born into titles, not control of the nation. More than anything they're carrying on a tradition from historical figures who WERE in control of the country.

Christian Bale told Matt Lauer not to use canned sound bites to discuss Heath Ledger's death. He called it what it is, rude. It's also a form of brainwashing - the media telling us it was an accident when it may very well have been an assassination. Batman mimicks the World Trade Center attacks. The melting bat wings on the tower mirror the molten steal that nukes made that melted off the towers. We've seen the photos. Are they mocking us these writer/producers? Do they think they are untouchable? War crimes have been committed.
Christian Bale is now being persecuted for his having admonished them for spreading trash talk about his friend Heath. Now they seek to ruin his career. They want total control over the message on the airwaves and in all media.
Christian basically simply said, show my friend who was very talented and who brought this industry ENORMOUS WEALTH because if you badmouth him you' d do it to me and that makes you people Satanic with a capital S (or maybe that's what I wish he'd said).
All he's saying is be polite, be fair, show respect. And for that they slay him.
Matt Lauer couldn't kiss my arse even if he offered me a million dollars - honest to god.
